Congratulations, Owls
I wanted to take this opportunity to congratulation Kennesaw fans on their lofty 321 ranking in this week's Sagarin's ratings.

You obviously knew what you were talking about over the past two years when you told us how the Owls would move up in the ranks of Division I after their dominance in Division II.

Being a "cup half full" kind of guy, I'd say that's 26 steps up from the bottom of the heap (NC Central) and better than traditional Division I powers like New Jersey Teck, High Point, Bryant and Winston-Salem State.

Today's rankings:

113 East Tennessee State
119 Jacksonville
127 Belmont
263 Lipscomb
268 Stetson
290 Florida Gulf Coast
299 Campbell
314 USC Upstate
321 Kennesaw State (Very impressive)
341 North Florida

Thank heavens for North Florida. It gives you someone to look down on.

Great avatar. We aren't concerned. We still haven't had a year without the Grace Period shackles. You will be dominated in good time, just stay patient.

I'd say we can bust into the high 200's by the time the season ends.

RE: Congratulations, Owls
I agree, you are an honorable man. Not too smart to stir up the Owl's nest, but honorable. We have endured a lot of smack talk from ETSU fans. It will come back to bit them in the end. Next year we will finally have a post game which will make everyone better. Our guards and SF's won't constantly be hoisting difficult jump shots because we will actually be able to feed the ball into the post and have them pass it back out.

We will be a top half team for sure next year maybe better. This year we are just going to have to gut it out game to game and see what we can do. We still have the potential to upset anyone, but I doubt we will be favored in many of the remaining games.

I will take another bet for next year right now :) We finish 6th or better in 09-10. That is the top half of the conference. You like it? We can wager another month of the winner's avatar if you like. It is a pretty bold bet on my part considering we have never finished in the top half, and we are clearly not going to finish in the top half this year...

Let me know if you want a piece of the action.

Kevster...you better enjoy this year because it will be the last year of its kind as long as Tony Ingle is coaching at KSU! We basically have 4 all conference players sitting out this year (Mitchell, Cummings, Green, Heramb). I can tell you that Coach Ingle has proven he can win with his players. Not so sure Bartow can say the same (just see Belmont's dominance). You want someone to break the top 100? KSU will be there in the next 2 years and we will see where ETSU is at the same point. You better hope Cliff Warren takes another job or it will be real soon that ETSU is at best 4th best in the ASUN. ETSU should win the league this year (if they don't choke again like they did last year) but you better enjoy it!

I want the whole damn league to break 100... No one knows who we are unless we start competing at the highest level.

Can't fault optimism on the part of some of you, I suppose!

I'm amused at the smarminess of ETSU fans.

This one will be a long time coming, but I think we will be much improved next year. 6th place should be achievable. I don't have any misconceptions that we are necessarily gonna come in and dominate in our first year, but I think we will compete with everyone and should win enough for a good conference showing..

You guys will be fine in time. I think you sometimes get ahead of yourselves. Calling people all conference performers before they have even played a college game is getting ahead of yourself. You can look at how it is hard for even blue chip recruits to make the leap.

It's a safe bet I wouldn't stick you with Bartow. I'd like to use someone or something that represents the best of ETSU basketball.

KB and Nick seem to have their head on straight here, but some of the Kennesaw kids need to quit drinking the kool-aid. It's spiked! Some of these quotes are amazing. "4 all conference players sitting out". You know there's only 10 all-conference slots for the entire league, right? And slamming Bartow for not winning? All he's done in the A-Sun is WIN! Ingle has never posted a winning record.
