RE: UAC FOOTBALL: WEEK 10
Looks like Tarleton is retaining the #1 spot and SFA #2. Texas teams are proving tough. This weekend will be a major determiner in the UAC championship race, like it has the last two years. I don't make any predictions for the Tarleton v ACU game. It's going to be a BATTLE like always and seems like both squads are up to the task right now. Seems like stats and everything else be damned with these two. On the field seems to be the only thing that matters. I think EKU and AP will be a VERY interesting match up. If EKU plays like they did on Halloween, they could steal the W. I think UCA finally gets their win against UWG and UNA gets another win against UWF.

RE: UAC FOOTBALL: WEEK 10
Really expected ACU to jump alot more than 1 spot in the polls with the shellacking they put on UWG. Especially considering Campbell (12), Harvard (13) and Richmond (21) all went down to unranked teams.

I did too, but I think it has more to do with UWG.

Sorry Outsider I believe Tarleton has had this game circled on the schedule since last year and almost overlooked EKU focusing on this game.

Tarleton will still have their Jeckyll and Hyde moments but I do believe this will be one of their best efforts and I do not believe ACU beats this Tarleton team at its best IMHO.

Tarleton wins by two scores although it will be competitive at times throughout the game.

RE: UAC FOOTBALL: WEEK 10
Lots of things. Kinda thought West Florida gave up football. Where have all their fans gone that wanted to sue their way into the playoffs?
UCA has Nix high on their list of head coaching candidates. I’ll help pay the Mayflower moving bill.
ACU has figured some things out, but Tarleton will easily outscore them. Provided the curse is not still in effect. I expect a statement win. Whitten’s morning coffee will have a triple shot of Viagra in it. Money has already been paid.
SFA finally plays a team with a pulse, but it’s Lamar, so there’s that. Lamar craps the bed more than ACU.
Fun week. Let’s go!

I'm staying home this week. I have always driven over for the game, even in the DII days, but I think it best I watch on ESPN this year...

RE: UAC FOOTBALL: WEEK 10
RIP RC.

Still not making any predictions about Saturday, but like the short but sweet recap of the Wildcats production on Halloween.

"Abilene Christian remains undefeated in UAC play and is starting to look like that scary team we've seen over the past two seasons. The Wildcats forced five turnovers, rolled up 500 yards of total offense, and had a 60% rushing success rate against West Georgia." (Net SR: 25.8%)

They didn't leave the Texans out even though their win wasn't dominant. EKU is a much better opponent without a doubt.

"Interestingly, Tarleton State makes this section despite only winning 28-24 against Eastern Kentucky. The Texans had an elite offensive success rate of 50%, finishing with nearly 600 yards of total offense, only punting twice, and somehow only scoring 28 points. The Texans turned the ball over three times, all deep inside EKU territory, including once at the goal line. Defensively, Tarleton State only allowed a 32% success rate, but allowed too many explosive plays. The Texans will need to be much sharper moving forward." (Net SR: 17.1%)

This is a good rivalry... I like it...

The only problem i have with it is scheduling, as a mater of fact, I hate the conference schedule when it comes to rivals...

Tarleton and ACU should be the last game, UNA and Austin Piss should be the last game, West Florida and West Georgia, EKU and UCA all should be the last game.

Tarleton will play at UNA the last game right before the playoffs... not saying it WILL happen, but Tarleton could very easily look ahead and slip up and drop that game and screw up the seeding in the playoffs. But if that happens, there would be probably 4 UAC teams in the playoffs... so maybe...

RE: UAC FOOTBALL: WEEK 10
I agree the rivalry games should be the last game of season, The big problem with early Nov is that it is the start of deer season and usually cold weather so attendance falls pretty dramatically the first week of November.

The UAC does not have the clout to get 4 teams in unless they all have stellar records in ooc and the 4 teams beat each other up to a tie in the race. 2 is generally the safe number and 3 maybe if the resume is good enough, but does either UNA or ACU have a resume that warrants an at large bid? Idaho win looks really good now, but losing to Lamar and SFA and especially Mercer did them in. They would pretty much have to win the conferencde to get the auto bid to feel safe. If they beat Tarleton thier chances are still alive, but still hanging by a thread. UNA would have to win out to have a shot as well. If you are not in the top 20 of the poll your pretty much out.

I have already thrown that possibility out there. It's not a highly likely scenario but not impossible. The reality is mainly that the UAC is a 2-3 bid league, which is still better than most.

So if the perfect storm does happen... for discussion not arguments, both UNA and ACU win out, if not both, who gets in? Will they actually leave an 8 win UAC team out?

I don't know for sure but ACU would have a better SOS argument and the win over UNA. It's still how many do they want to let in, 3 vs 4.

RE: UAC FOOTBALL: WEEK 10
Here's my unsolicited prediction: every Tarleton game thus far has gone the opposite of what common sense would say, because most of them should have been blowouts from start to finish and that hasn't been the case. The common sense take of "throw the record out for the rivalry game" for this one will also prove to be wrong. I think Tarleton, with some actual fear of a loss this week, comes out swinging and puts their foot on ACU's throat and keeps it there and shows the country that they truly deserve to be #1. Sorry ACU fans. Good luck.
