Same pollsters showed Trump losing.

How’d that workout for ya?

Twice

maybe even 3 times.....

Absolutely.

2020 election was a sham for sure.

Big time.

I would opt to have a pine cone inserted into my rectum (perhaps by a mime or a ballerina) than vote for either of these two men.

Its not a vote for Bill. I vote against Democrats.

I am not a Republican but I clearly see the less of two evils.

My Dad used to have a saying to anyone who tried to persuade to vote Democrat or were proud to be Democrats.

He said he never met a Democrat Politician that didn't love to raise taxes. So, unless I love pay more taxes I'll just keep voting against them.

The reason I vote against them is because one I'm conservative and two they are hell bent on destroying the family unit at all costs which in turn breaks down society.

Exactly.

I'm a registered independent now, but I will still vote for Republicans.

Because a vote for Democrats is a vote to kill off the United States once and for all.

I understand the approach, B-Dragon. And many others (on both the left and right) take that view. I respect your right to vote "against" a candidate as much so (if not more so than) to vote "for" a candidate. I get it.

But I simply take a different approach.

Ken Paxton (in this case) is such a flawed politician (and person) ... there is no way I could vote for him.

As an extreme example, I could not vote for a convicted rapist simply because his political views align with mine.

Now to be fair, it is easy for me to be critical of the "vote for the lesser of two evils" approach, as my days of voting for either a Democrat or a Republican (and I've voted for candidates in either party in the past) are done.

I've had it with both parties, and would like to see both Talarico and Paxton lose. Neither is deserving.

RE: Republicans for Talarico
There's constant news about Trumps health and that he shouldn't be president because of that, (only Demonicratic speculation at that). But now we have a real individual vying for the Senate seat who even in his early years was of poor health but nothing is said by them that he's not healthy and capable enough for the office. These Demonicrats are hypocrites and evil, straight and simple.

I wouldn't vote for this liar for dog catcher. Now, he came out with a commercial where he claims that those ugly, heretical things he said was AI generated by the Repubs. "It's on video from way past before you ran for the Senate, you little weasel"!

I hate to say it, ollie, but they don't care. It's about sticking to the "ORANGE MAN BAD! REEEEE! 03-hissyfit" narrative at all costs.

They'll adjust the narrative once Trump is gone.

Sadly, I hear this a lot. Regardless of whether the allegations on Paxton or true or not, given the controversy around him, is Paxton the ideal Republican candidate? Nope. I suspect we likely agree on that.

So, here is where Im at. When I enter the voting booth----Im not looking for a business partner---Im not looking to give my daughter away to the winner of the election. The election winner wont be managing my business affairs.

What the election winner WILL DO is become one of 100 members casting votes in the US Senate. So, the only question I need to ask in this election is ---"Which candidate is going to vote in the Senate more often in the manner I would prefer----and which candidate almost uniformly is going to cast Senate votes in a manner I would absolutely NOT prefer". As a Republican---that method strains out the election campaign noise and makes this decision VERY easy and straightforward.

In my case, my fellow Coog, it's party platform over personalities. Though, of course, as Reince Priebus put it earlier tonight on One Nation with Brian Kilmeade, Trump's on the ballot one more time even though he's not physically on there. If the Dems get both chambers of Congress, expect them to try to impeach him yet again because that's all they have at this point.

I'd like to believe what you said is true, Bill. In some cases, it still is. But I don't think it's the case with most on the left anymore. I'd love to be proven wrong.

RE: Republicans for Talarico
James Talarico is back on the campaign trail after a bout with the flu. Polls show him retaining his modest lead as he challenges his opponent to debate.

[Image: AA2e157f.img?w=768&h=512&amp...;amp;d=105]
Still in front

Quote:James Talarico’s chances of winning the Texas Senate race remain strong on prediction markets despite a nine-day absence from the campaign trail that became a target of Republican attacks.

The Democratic nominee and Texas Representative was priced at 63 percent to win on Kalshi and 64 percent on Polymarket on Sunday, October 11, compared with 37 percent for Republican Ken Paxton, the state’s attorney general.

In an excerpt of an on-camera interview posted to X Sunday by NBC Dallas-Fort Worth reporter Phil Prazan, Talarico said he had been recovering from the flu and denied claims that his absence involved a stress-induced episode or treatment.

Talarico said he had visited his primary care physician but was not hospitalized, describing his illness as a “nasty case of the flu.” He said he spent much of the period in bed, drinking fluids and working from home, while avoiding campaign events so he would not risk getting others sick.

Earlier Sunday, Rhein Amacher, a right-wing activist, posted on X that Talarico had recently been discharged from the Lindner Center of HOPE, a mental health facility in Ohio. Conservative influencer Nick Sortor later amplified the claim.

JT Ennis, a spokesperson for Talarico’s campaign, shared his response to Sortor with Newsweek via email, writing: “This is a lie designed to promote a pathetic conspiracy theory. Last week James Talarico was home in Austin, Texas recovering from the flu.”

The Lindner Center also denied the claim Sunday night, writing on X: “Representative James Talarico has never received treatment from Lindner Center of Hope.”

Asked specifically about social media claims that he had been receiving treatment for a stress-related episode, Talarico told Prazan: “That’s not true. I just had the flu and I feel much better.”

Talarico then turned to his Republican opponent after being asked about President Donald Trump’s call for the candidates to debate. He said he agreed with Trump and criticized Paxton for not agreeing to a debate, joking that while Paxton’s allies had demanded “proof of life” from him during his absence, “I’m asking for proof of spine from him.”

Talarico’s Odds Remain Strong

.... Talarico held a narrow lead over Paxton in a new Trafalgar poll of the Texas Senate race, following his first public appearance in more than a week.
....
Many other polls have also pointed to close races with Talarico in the lead in Texas.

Demanding “proof of life” from an opponent whose debate you’re ducking is a tough sell.

With Mr. Talarico’s popularity holding up and Mr. Trump endorsing the idea, I think Mr. Paxton will soon need to agree to it.

Voters can then view the candidates side by side and decide which of the two seems the healthier choice.

RE: Republicans for Talarico
Younger Texans overwhelmingly support James Talarico.

• Younger Texas voters are backing Democrat James Talarico over Republican Ken Paxton by wide margins in the latest YouGov poll.

• Talarico leads Paxton 69%-27% among voters ages 18–29 and 62%-34% among those ages 30–44. Older voters favor Paxton.

• Talarico leads overall, 50%-44%, in a poll of 3,625 registered voters conducted September 28–October 5. Both parties were viewed unfavorably, and 56% disapproved of President Donald Trump’s job performance.
