Thanks, old friend. As cliched as it sounds, he is in a much better place and in no pain. To be honest I am a bit envious that he has gone home to Jesus. I can't wait!

God bless you and the family. I'll pass along your prayer request to a few churches I frequent as well.
Thanks Eric, you know I admire your conviction and faith greatly, as well as your humanity. God bless you!

Thank you all for your condolences. God has a plan for each of us and though we may not know the details of it, I know it's there. Praise God.

Threads like these make me thankful to be active on The Spin Room once again (after previous starts-and-stops).
Though some of us are primarily conservative and some of us are primarily progressive, we are all humans facing life's tragedies. Having friends (even "message board friends") is helpful in dealing with those pains.
I don't know how much longer my elderly parents will live (particularly my 95-year-old father, who very well might be the oldest living Memphis Tiger fan on the planet). So every day is a gift. A blessing.
To all of you on this board ... God bless you. Be strong. Be hopeful. Be positive. Be appreciative. Be faithful. And, most of all, be humble.

T-A and I had a discussion about this topic a few years ago. He thinks my father very well might be the oldest living Tiger fan. But there is probably no way of knowing.
Perhaps T-A is "No. 2."

TB4E, I am so sorry to hear about your latest loss. Your family has suffered enough for several families. My best to all of you, my friend.

My baby brother passed away Friday night, 18 months after doctors diagnosed him with lung cancer. Sadly, he never got to see justice for our oldest brother, who was murdered in Memphis while here for a visit on April 29, 2024. They still haven't set a trial date, 2 years and 7 months later.
Hang in there brother

Excellent. Most excellent. Cling to your loved ones as if today were the last time you will ever see them. There may be plenty of the old TB4E left, but today's version is striving to be what your last paragraph and especially the last sentence advise. It's not easy, and it takes a conscious effort to make it a way of being. My older brother had all of it, and I wish he were still here to tell me how he did it. I am not now, nor have I ever been, a gentle soul. I'd like to become one without losing whatever passion I do possess.
Thanks, Bill.

Good point.
I think I accidentally "aged you" 10 years (wrongly recalling you are 89 when, in fact, you are 79).
But at the rate you are going ... you could hit 99. Keep driving that van all over the country and into Canada and Mexico. Will keep you young!

bill, adding 10 years to someone already ancient is damn near unforgivable. We love our Andy, be careful.
