First off it's Argentina not Venezuela on the 40 B. Also the Ballroom has nothing to do with what's going on right now with snap.

I PERSONALLY have no issues at all with the ballroom, I am talking about optics... and if you deny the optics are bad then you are lying to yourself. Same as Argentina (sorry said Venezuela). I do have some problems with giving 40 bil, same as I had issues with funding Ukraine or most other countries during this time, but I am not completely against it. The optics are terrible though, just gives ammunition to democrats.

WOW... I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH THE BALLROOM, I just said that, you quoted it! The timing was AWFUL though and if you cannot admit that, then you are not the level-headed, rational person I thought you were. Any level-headed rational person can admit the timing was awful... Same as the timing with Argentina... I support bringing in the Argentina beef. I would much rather have Argentina beef over Mexican beef... but it does not change the FACT that the timing could not be worse.

If you think the optics are "in my head" then you need to get out of the bubble, that is as bad as liberals who stay in an echo chamber.

Yep, I agree... Republicans were presented as the good side, even on CNN... then they refused to fund SNAP and the tide turned. They could have made a serious statement if they had approved the stand-alone SNAP and said "see we were not the side holding it up, we want to fund SNAP and Dems were not allowing it. As soon as they presented a bill to fund it, we immediately voted yes."

The simple fact is that less than 0.10% of Americans even know we gave (loaned) $40B to Argentina. Most people don’t pay any attention to those matters. So, in reality, there are no optics around the issue. You have to remember that during the election ABC did a poll and 40% of people couldn’t name the VPs on the tickets.

Considering my ETF ARGT wiped away a 15% ytd loss and is now up 74% from when I purchased it early last summer, I'll take it. Trump would not have loaned the money is the Peronists had seized more power in last week's elections (he said that directly when Millei was in DC), but the Argentinian public resoundingly endorsed Millei's austerity efforts at the polls. There are good folks in Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, and southern Brazil, and I would think economic stability in that region would be very beneficial to the US over the long haul.

And SNAP, like other entitlements for the poor, needs reform in the worst way. So much fraud, so many illegals, so many people generationally dependent. I never signed up to feed and house baby-mamas and their offspring for eternity. I am generous when someone is trying and has hit a patch of poor circumstances, but my compassion ends there. Get back on your feet and support your own responsibilities and leave me the F alone.
