We had some hit some EV chargers even though there have been multiple PSA's made about the copper in traffic cams.

RE: EV problem - Mining Companies Can't Produce Enough Copper
Copper is almost $5 a pound. There are 150 copper cents in a pound. That means each pre 1982 US cent is worth over $0.03. Just some trivia.
I might have mentioned that I metal detect as a hobby. One of the byproducts of trying to find good stuff is you dig up a lot of pennies. I have dug over 12,000 copper Lincoln cents, another 3,000 wheat cents, and a couple hundred of the higher copper (less bronze) Indian head cents.
It’s amazing how many coins are in the ground. I’m getting close to having dug 35,000 coins total, about 800 of those silver or otherwise valuable.

RE: EV problem - Mining Companies Can't Produce Enough Copper
Isn't mining terrible for the environment? That's why the administration is rushing toward EV's because combustion engines are bad for the environment.
Our idiot liberal governor here in Kentucky, who masquerades as a moderate, is championing the construction of a factory to build batteries for Ford EV's. They originally planned two facilities. That's been scaled back to one plant.
Ford cut sales forecasts of 150,000 vehicles a year after selling only 22,000 in 2022.
The fact idiot Andy sold this boondoggle as some economic boom for rural Kentucky isn't he biggest failure. What most will remember is how the development destroyed Glendale a beautiful little community.
I'm not opposed to looking for alternatives to gasoline powered vehicles but why jump from Gas to Electric? Why not follow Toyotas lead and heavily market hybrids for a decade?
Toyota sold 2.6 million hybrid vehicles in 2022 and 3.4 million last year. You can't force Americans to buy EV's when hybrids are more dependable and more practical.

people don't realize how fk'd (en masse) they really are .... there's more in the bold text than too many can fathom once margin call happens....
that's not the 'click your heels' mistake that just "goes away"....
y'all have no fk'n clue how nasty this gets....

If I had any ambition left I would purchase these furnaces environmentally friendly and melt the copper out of all the cores that people turn in to me.
Instead I just take scrap prices to get rid of it.

EV batteries are a failure before ever getting off the ground.
Rare minerals to produce batteries.
This is going to be a face plant unless something else is invented.

the laws of thermodynamics are REAL whether the dickbrains like it or not ... scale will always be an issue ... that's why it's limited to it's role ... EV mass transportation at scale has zero chance of success...
fk'n morons ... every g'dammed one of ya EV fkrs either played it off the dime of Johnny Q consumer/tax subsidy, or ewe're simply as stupid as they come...
regardless, the masses will realize margin call soon enough...

Ni and Co are other elements that can't be produced enough en masse to pull it off. My colleagues and I knew this was a failure before the gov't and those automotive corps who were investing in this scaled up for the market. If you worked in power gen and distribution, metals and mining, urban planning and other facets that can touch EV production and distribution...you knew how it was going to play out.

lol ... I'm E) none of the above
as muh former 'taciturn' (his descriptor of self) programmer once told me after smashin' another mouse and slammin' the phone, "I have to give you credit ... you size 'em up better than most by makin a 'splash' in the final act." ... it was something along those lines ... at that Salt Lake transplant...

Don't have enough copper to make them. Can't sell the ones you make.
Somewhere in there is an obvious answer--Don't make so many.
