Breanna Gayle Runions, 25, was arrested Sunday in Rockwood and charged with felony murder and aggravated child abuse in the death of Evangeline Gunter, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said in a statement.

Runions told investigators she was trying to demonstrate gun safety when she pulled the trigger, news outlets reported, citing an arrest warrant.

Runions’ girlfriend and another child in the home said the children were being punished that day for not following rules, according to warrant. Runions brought out the gun, removed the magazine, called the 4-year-old over to her and then shot her in the chest, the warrant said.

The girl’s mother, Josie Gunter, told WBIR-TV that her daughter lived at the house because of a court decision.

Sounds like they were foster parents based on the rest of the article. If that's true then Tennessee may want to revisit their guidelines for vetting foster parents. Tragic situation.

It doesn't mean they aren't either.

I was responding to the clear insinuation from Bronco asking about her having a girlfriend like she's gay, when it is most likely just that she's a girl....friend.

The child’s death is 100% the fault of the woman who pulled the trigger. It could have been cold blooded murder or it could have been a horrible accident due to poor gun safety procedures.

I was responding to the accusation that the killer was mentally ill just because she is gay. I was pointing out that the birth mother must have had some issues of her own if the state removed the child from her home.
