In the state of Texas, prostitution carries a maximum prison sentence of 180 days in prison and/or a $2000 fine for anyone that violates Texas Penal Code 43. During an appearance while testifying before the Texas Senate Committee on State Affairs, the drag queen said, “I want to protect children across Texas… and want to give some insight into the repercussions these bills have to our community.” He added, “Drag is my full time job that aids in economic growth, and as a drag artist I continue to work with multiple 501© charitable organizations to raise thousands of dollars for the local community. Drag does good for the local community.”

Senate bill SB12 would restrict sexually oriented performances, such as drag shows being performed on public property in the presence of children. The bill, if signed into law, would make it a civil penalty and criminal offense for a drag queen to perform a show in front of a child under the age of 18. Similarly, SB 1601 would prohibit state funding for venues such as libraries from hosting drag events.

"The bill stipulates that “a municipal library may not receive state funds if the library hosts an event at which a man presenting as a woman or a woman presenting as a man reads a book or story to a minor for entertainment.” LaQueene believes drag queens, such as himself, have a right to perform in front of children and told the Senate that it “is a form of self expression…and we should be allowed that freedom to express ourselves.”

After sparking backlash for his behavior in the Texas Capital and for indecent exposure, LaQueene took to Instagram saying that exposing himself in the Texas capital was “an accident that happened after DPS tried to forcibly remove me from the house,” and he added that if he showed up in the capital again, “DPS will arrest me.”

LaQueene has also come under fire for a brand partnership with Smirnoff vodka, where he posted three paid partnerships to Instagram late last year after they sponsored him and several other drag queens in Austin, Texas. However, a spokesperson for the vodka brand told Fox News that LaQueene "is not currently a Smirnoff partner, and does not currently have any contract with Smirnoff."

It is unclear whether LaQueene will face charges for indecent exposure at this stage.

"She [the speaker] runs an organization called ‘Skittles’ for kids five to eleven to discuss gender and sexuality," Lee said, noting that her daughter's art teacher pulled her aside and told her "you don't have to tell your parents."

Lee said other parents who came forward with complaints went as long as a year without knowing about the secret after-school club since their children abided by the rules and refused to tell anyone what happened during meetings.

Pam Bondi, the former Florida attorney general who is representing the families in the case against the school, said demanding "accountability" and "transparency" are essential.

"These are taxpayer-funded teachers who are doing this," she said. "And we want to send a nationwide message to these school systems, these parents and these school boards that parents govern their children, not these teachers, and we're going to give them the tools that they need, our parents, to protect them against indoctrination and all of these crazy things that they're doing."

Faulkner said the district did not respond to a request for comment on the lawsuit.

Lee first made the allegations last year against Wellington Middle School and Poudre School District, about 70 miles north of Denver. The Poudre School District confirmed the existence of the club and that conversations in it "may be confidential" but declined to address the specific allegations made by Lee "to protect the privacy of the student and their family."
