I don’t think he can redshirt at this point. I would have redshirted him if eligible.

From what I understand, he left one open in hopes of getting a mid-year transfer, but that didn't happen.

Definitely an interesting list to be apart of. Those averages are definitely impressive regardless of any level

Thaddeus Rideau averaged 20, 5, 3, and 2 steals and was a first team all American in Juco. Not saying it can’t work, but I’m always a bit worried about lower level superstars.

It was because Thaddeus Rideau that I learned that there are athletic divisions of juco (Divisions 1, 2 and 3 that pretty much mirror the same divisional setup that exists for four year colleges) and that Rideau played for a for-profit lower tier D2 juco that often competed against teams that had no scholarship players.

given we signed players about this time last year,

I wonder if us being in NIT this long is delaying signing kids.

I’m sure we have someone signed or lined up. It wouldn’t be smart to announce guys replacements before they are done playing. Keep the eyes on the prize

Yeah, I can't imagine we will see any announcements until after the season ends for us. I also can't imagine that we don't have players lined up.

I haven’t seen many guys we’ve reached out to actually announce anywhere, but I also don’t know how long guys usually take to announce once entering the portal

It varies, but the academic calendar plays a role. They will be finishing up the Spring semester where they are and usually want to have their landing spot lined up by then so that they can take care of the normal things that come with moving to a new city/school and get acclimated to their new home/team, so for the majority of guys you have a natural end date of when they will make a decision by based on that.

Most players have a much more jaded view of the recruitment process the second time around and so just want to find out their best option and get it over with ASAP, so the dominoes start to fall fairly quickly once the season ends.

He should come to UAB and take advantage of the step up in play with AAC and develop his game with a proven staff.

Will Shaver just hit the portal. He would be a huge pick up for us.

Let's see: so there's a big, strong transfer from the ACC who played at an over-the-mountain high school in Birmingham and is now looking to transfer?

It worked out well the first time. Let's do it again.

Can’t blame a kid for giving UNC a shot but now that he’s seen what it looks like, come home and be an impact player instead of a rotation guy.
