Thank you Penny
I’ve been through it all. The last second shot by LSU. The post season bans. The post season upset wins. The Drexel‘s, the Western Kentucky’s, the Kansas’s. Over the past decade I have wondered if I would ever have to get over those types of games again.

The fear that I had was that my apathy for losses or wins was a sign that I would never care about Tiger basketball the same again.

Thanks to you I know that I care about and love Tiger basketball as much as I ever have. Because this loss really stinks. But it means so much knowing that you are the leader of our Tigers and that you bleed blue, and that you are here to coach our beloved Tigers because you love them just as much as I do.

Please don’t give up. Please keep going. The best is yet to come. We don’t love Tiger basketball because of how easy things come. We love Tiger basketball because of how hard things come. And when we have success, we know we earned it.

I heard a statement the other day that really struck a chord with me. It’s hard to be upset when you are busy being thankful. I’m thankful for the season we’ve had and I’m thankful for Penny.

RE: Thank you Penny
It was a good, not great season.

This team under achieved all season long.

Still AAC tourney championship was huge.

Too many games we just gave away this season, including today, with bad decisions by both the players and coaches.

Will always bleed blue but this loss today really hurt. I don't know what was going on but this team was no where near ready to play.

All that said, it was a fun ride, and I'm thankful for it, just a disappointing end.

They had a really good year and exceeded expectations going into the season.

This loss just stings hard because of the clear path we had to the 2nd weekend.

Agree. I didn’t have a lot of faith that we would make the NCAA this year after losing so much talent last year. The team really came together in the AAC tourney - they didn’t seem to play with the same focus and determination tonight. Just a very very disappointing loss tonight.

I’m grateful we are back to relevance again.
I’m grateful we are hanging a banner.
That win over Houston was a thing of beauty.

Something was off from the get go last night. But whatever, it was a fun ride and all we can do now is wait until next year to see what kind of team Penny can put together. Even though he lost control of the team a bit last night he has improved in leaps and bounds and I am thankful he's here. He doesn't have to be, he doesn't need the money and he sure doesn't need all the headaches that go along with the job but he still does it. It must be love. And I think that's the single most important change I've seen in this team, they are ruled by a leader who loves them, and it shows.

I do hate that I now have free time on my hands, I was all ready to enjoy a weekend of college hoops, now I couldn't care less about it. I guess I'll clean out my garage.

Good season, great coach, some nice memories.

We are still re-learning to be a tourney team. Doesn't happen easily. We need to dance a few times to get used to the games, arena, refs and pressure.

Step next....

Very good season with some disappointing loses. The worst last night.

100% disagree. Don’t have the energy to argue it.

I wonder how much the FDU upset 30 min prior to our game distracted our team. It certainly had that effect on me.

Me either, but we made the same type mistakes last night that cost us early in the season. Seems like it is under achieving when you give away multiple games that you should win with careless mistakes and wasted opportunities vs inferior competition.

Last night was a veritable comedy of errors, don't even want to rehash it.

This morning my reaction this morning is just, "ugggghhh"

Really no words to describle this feeling. I'm sure the team and Penny feels worse than we do this morning. Just a tough, tough loss with too many mistakes.

We certainly didn't play to our potential.

So, REALISTICALLY, how good will next year's team be?

Not how good will they be if everything goes perfectly and all players exceed expectations; how good will they be if there some hit & miss?

Feels like it may be a step back / rebuild year.

RE: Thank you Penny
Some really good posts in this thread.
* Penny is still our guy. He and staff did a really good job this year WHEN YOU CONSIDER THE WHOLE SEASON. Remember, our post season also includes a W on neutral court over #1 Houston.
* I feel real bad for Davis. (imho) He should always be remembered as an outstanding guard who gave us one season of all-american performance (literally). He wanted to play in NCAA so bad. I hate it that it turned out to be such a goofy, weird bad loss.
* Williams gave us a different kind of warrior performance. He had to do it with four fouls. That tip in basket in final two mins was huge. I have been watching Tiger basketball since Larry Finch was a PLAYER. D Williams is my all time favorite and greatest 'junkyard dog, all heart' Memphis Tiger.
* Fla Atlantic deserves credit. They are a quick and scrappy team who can play D and shoot the rock.

Any other coach not named Penny Hardaway and we’d be screaming for his job. This team deserved better. The lack of basketball IQ for this team is infuriating and it starts at the top. Growing pains were expected but Penny has to be better. Not sure what Frank Haiti’s role is but he has to step up to help or Penny has to give him a bigger role. It was not our finest game last night but a coach wins that one for us. Solid team with an almost solid year. This one hurts and here’s to hoping Penny learned more than anybody last night and never repeats those mistakes again

Big mistake was letting DeAndre pick up that quick 4th foul. Just no bigs to replace him with. Gotta have bigs next year or it will be a repeat. Can't win without deep bench of bigs.

100% correct. Again not sure why Kao doesn’t get at least 2-4 minutes just see what he does. He possibly could’ve made an impact last night against a smaller less physical team.
