I woke up this morning and I still have my money and my health, so I guess the game didn't matter that much after all.

I watch a good bit of soccer and NBA and there are bad calls in every league, but college sports has to be the worst. I bet the volume of bad calls between those 2 leagues and college basketball is something like 5:1. They are either inept, lack integrity or both.

We were on the same floor as the players at the hotel

A lot of slamming doors last night

Unfortunately we couldn’t close the one that mattered - up 1 with :10 and the ball.

Just a friendly reminder that 30 win teams are still good teams, regardless who they defeated. Comparing schedules is not the best thing to gauge teams to go by. Vanderbilt lost to Grambling in early December, and I do think they were better than some of the teams in this tournament, unfortunately, they just didn't have the resume.
Florida Atlantic should be fine in the conference next year because their style of play will be fun for the players. Very analytical, similar to Alabama. Lots of three's and paint shots. Spending your winter season is southern Florida will be an easy way to recruit players.
I thought the only issue with Memphis this year was the Tigers were so reliant on Kendric Davis. When Davis went down vs UCF, no one had a clue on what to do on the floor.

If FAU makes the sweet 16, they are gonna lose their coach to a better program. They will be back to being sh!t next year.

I don't know if there are any jobs that are out that's interesting to take right now. If I am Florida Atlantic's coach, I would probably stay in Boca Raton unless he can get either the Florida State or Miami job when both of their coaches retire.

The focus wasn’t there. Looked a bit nonchalant and IMO took FAU lightly. It’s a shame cuz the way the field has set up in the East, a final 4 run is possible.

I say it was a come down from the euphoria of winning the conference

Yeah, hard to believe we're beating anybody decent (much less a 30 win team) when KD and Deandre have those stats. TBF to Deandre he played super smart with the four fouls and really kept us in it with his boxing out and putbacks at the end. We should've been feeding Deandre down low the whole game. Deandre fell in love with his three shot which had been falling all last week. Figured out in 2H but could've run it up playing that way in 1H. I also think McCadden was hurt because he didn't seem like himself the entire game. Don't think I've seen him jawing with anybody all year much less make contact like he did. He seemed gimpy on his ankle towards the end and I'm guessing that led to him biting the pumpfake so hard and not being able to recover.

Agreed, the more and more I look at it, FAU was just a terrible matchup for us on many fronts. One being this team seems to play up and play down to the competition. Almost would've rather played Purdue first tbh...ha!

I told several friends that Purdue losing was the worst thing that could have happened. It may have increased the pressure

That’s another step Penny will take in his growth as a head coach- getting his team to stay in “kill mode” and stop playing up/down to level of competition. Beat the hell out people, run the score up, don’t let the referees screw you in a tight ballgame.

If I had to put my finger on one thing that has been consistent and very annoying in the Penny era is the lack of "kill mode". We have put a few teams away, but in most cases we play to the level of competition and make every game a close one.
