UNANIMOUS POY.

Nice to see all conference coaches set personal wishes aside. I honestly do not think this happens if the teams themselves had not somehow let coaches know their feelings. Shows to RJ's talent but also his sportsmanship.

Congrats to the entire team for the respect they've earned.

Well earned awards. My only disappointment is Moss not making the all defense team and Maddox getting no mentions-he was one of the league's better players down the stretch.

1st team- 3 guards
2nd team- 2 guards
3rd team- 4 guards
Honorable Mention- 4 guards
All Freshmen- 5 guards
All Defensive- 4 guards

Like Stan Joplin always said “MAC is a guard league”.

Not sure I'd put JT on the first team and Milner on 2nd - but more biased over the end of the season when Milner has been playing like a POY as well. Need to see Shumate step up a bit more on the offensive end. Seems he's dropped off in production each of his years at UT at the end of the season. Not going to look it up, just going from memory.

JT appeared to be a little hobbled iowards the end of the season but he was scrappy and fought through it. He has been one of the few players in the MAC that defenses had to account for inside and outside. His 3 point shooting creates space for RayJ, Dante and Sedric. Awards are often determined by stats for one reason or another and JT was 7th in the MAC in scoring at 16.5 and Seth was 10th at 16.0. Milner was 8th in rebounding at 5.8 and JT was 21st at 4.8. Additionally, JT led the MAC in blocked shots with 40 for the conference season.

Basically, they were a great duo and teammates who complemented each others game on the floor.

RE: MBB MAC Awards
they both improved so much. when JT came to UT the intention was to RS. then, there was the covid amnesty and they took the rs off about 7 games into the season. he grew in every part of his game every year. really good shooter, really good touch around the rim, very athletic, great hands, pretty good defender, super scrappy, clutch. milner came in as a guy who looked more like a role player that might help us w his versatility on defense. he was a decent mid range jump shooter without a 3. by his second year he was a good midrange shooter who was decent from 3 and a great finisher with an iso game. this year he's become a great midrange shooter and, dare we say one, right now, as good from 3 as anyone in the league, with the possible exception of maddox. he had a month earlier in the year where he seemed to lose a little interest and wasn't as aggressive on d and the boards, wasn't always finishing like he used to. then, he just changed gears for the stretch run and turned it loose, yet still plays under control. these guys deserve an ncaa tourney.

Given the metrics JT plays against, mostly taller and bigger, while guarding paint against the drive of the guards, that block shot stat is extremely impressive. Many are flat-footed blocks. He seems to see the ball very well when it's in the opponents' hands and get his, where theirs are going. They're not wild swings to knock the ball into the rafters and gets oohs and aahs. They get the job done and get control of the ball.
