It is like being short. It is not impossible to overcome but it makes getting to the NBA much tougher. He can shoot and is a very willing defender which are major advantages in his corner.

Lack of speed kept Larry Bird from being great. Same with John Stockton

Stockton was very quick.
Both Bird and Stockton made the very most of their limited athletic ability.
Stockton benefited from having Karl with him. Bird was sneaky on offense and sneaky dirty on defense. He had a move where he’d stand on the foot of the guy he was guarding. Rarely got called for it.
They both became all stars without outstanding athleticism.

I think yall are confused. Larry Bird wa s a great athele, he just was not a great jumper

Well, okay...

Larry was 6'9" and at that point the greatest shooter of all time... And I am not sure there was a tougher player to ever play the game of basketball.

Stockton was very quick so I am assuming you just assume he was slow because he was white. Stockton is also the best passer of all time. His career assists totaled 15,806, second place is 2,905 assists behind him. It would have taken Jason Kidd (2nd all time) playing all 82 games and averaging 10 apg over 3.5 more seasons to catch him. Lebron would have to play in all 82 games and average 10 apg and still play almost 7 more years to catch him.

No offense to Lester but his skill sets are not on the same planet with either of those guys and really only one of them was actually slow. But like I said originally, lack of speed can be overcome (just like being short) but you have to be an incredibly smart player and have skill sets are that are top notch to compensate. If he shoots 45%+ from three and can be a tenacious defender and can stay in front of his guy then it is possible he finds a roster spot.

There is a lot of 6'4" - 6'6" guys with decent shots that will never sniff the NBA. It is because they are slow, it is incredibly hard to overcome that. Do I hope that Lester is able to overcome that and land himself in the NBA? Absolutely!

I doubt he was quicker than Lester. And no that doesn’t mean I think Lester is anywhere near Stockton

Is this a real post?

So far, I don't think we've missed his defense, like I thought we would. His scoring, even his 3 point shooting, never felt much within the flow of our offense, especially last year. I'm sure we would be better if he had come back; but I don't know how much better.

Honestly, I thought we’d miss his rebounding the most. Elijah rebounds really well, though.

Lester is on a different level than Kennedy or Elijah. He would have made a big difference, especially early on in the season when we were trying to get a flow going in the guard area. I'd venture to say we would have 3 less losses right now and be sitting on the 5/6 seed line.

IMO, if we had Lester all year, we would have 2 losses, at most. His defense was always superb, and rebounding was a strength.

We would be an elite college team, maybe a 3 seed or higher.

Well we don’t. Don’t know why people think he was going to stay after the drama of the last 3 seasons. Lester is doing fine

This clown argues with everybody and should pull the burr out of his rear. This is a discussion board and discussing hypothetical scenarios is part of it. Imagine that.
