RE: UAB Baseball update (including Young Memorial Field)
I can understand them not wanting to have soccer or football games there but a college baseball game doesn’t seem to be a problem. And if it is only one or two games until UAB’s field is ready I really don’t see the issue.

But these are the same people who put a runner on second to start the tenth and other stupid ideas.

Spoke with Coach Dunn Saturday at the BB game. He said the first game(s) will be in Hoover. He said weather has busted the renovation schedule.

Why not play at Regions instead of in Hoover?

Be a good excuse to get some games at Rickwood too.

Unfortunately, I beleive we have to pay to play at Regions with the exception of the AU and UA games. It would be nice to have the MSU game played there as well.

When MLB took over the minor leagues they stipulated no sharing of ballparks. One off games are ok, but there are to be no other tenants in minor league stadiums.

I know this is becoming an issue with the pro soccer team in Memphis.

How are AA Richmond Flying Squirrels and VCU able to share the same park? Plus VCU will also host the conference tourney in same stadium.

No idea. Maybe there is a formal contract that hasn't yet expired in that case. All I know is what I read about it in articles out of Memphis and Albuquerque a few months ago that state no sharing of ballparks with other tenants. Note: Tenants is the key word here...a conference tourny would be an event rather than a tenant.

One good thing for UAB athletics in BHM, if need be, there is no shortage of facilities. 3 baseball stadiums, 2 football stadiums, 3 basketball arenas all owned by cities in the area.

The XFL is playing football game at MLS soccer stadium in D.C. I've always been curious about the original plan for UAB baseball and promises made by city of Birmingham to play at Regions? Maybe playing in Hoover might be a good thing and produce a new group of UAB baseball fans. It's nice for folks in Hoover to help UAB baseball instead of really sorry crap they get from Barons. I will definitely go to some games at the Met.

It’s strange that MLS allows other users of MLS stadiums, but he USL wants their teams to be primary tenants and MLB doesn’t want other teams using minor league stadiums. Just doesn’t seem consistent.

I assume the turf is ready at Young Memorial. Glad they got it done for the Notre Dame three game series starting tomorrow at 2pm.

The green walls are gone at Young Memorial Field and the black mesh fences are back. It looks great!

We got run ruled by BSC lol. That's gotta be a low point in the history of the program.

Guess we will have to try to recruit their players once their school folds next spring...

Might as well. We got their coach when they went D3.

BSC baseball spent most of this season ranked #1 in DIII. And if you know how scholarships work for baseball in DI, it’s not surprising a DIII can win games like this.
