I hope it's all beautiful, Memphis gets in the P5, and everyone lives happily ever after. If so, I suspect the flying pigs will negatively impact the local bbq restaurants.

He said that there were prerequisite upgrades required, and I'm assuming this satisfies those upgrades. That seems to be about as clear as possible regarding how he thinks it's the right way to help the University. Would you prefer turning down the grant?

He may think it, but that doesn't make him right.

And now this is where you tell us that only an OCS will do the trick?

Nope. It's up to the folks getting the money to make that happen now.

Show me.

I can’t wait for the stadium up grades! I’ll drive from Texas for the first game for sure! Hope the upgrades include all chair backs decked in blue.

I'm sure that has absolutely nothing to do with it considering both Houston and Cincinnati have more crime than Memphis.

What do you expect from someone who believes committing a non-violent crime is reason enough to be executed by a government agent on the streets?

How does it hurt the city or the University? It cannot do anything but help both...

Nope. My OCS book is closed. I am in the "Impress me with the Liberty Bowl upgrades" phase.

Conference hopes are another issue. The PAC-10 still doesn't have a TV deal. The Big XII wants to take four or more of their leftovers for themselves. If any PAC-10 schools move to the Big XII, Memphis' hopes of a Big XII membership are over. We have no control over any of that regardless of stadiums. The outlook is not good.

If I'm understanding you correctly, you're trying to tell us that the B12 is the only option possible?

So was Mud Island and The Pyramid.

The reality is the city already had The Liberty Bowl and FedExForum and couldn't afford to properly maintain and improve either of them without a bailout from the state. They won't be able to maintain the newly renovated facilities either.

Maybe we should start building an OCS instead?

Nope. Decision is made. Die is cast. The Claw saw his shadow. There will be fifty more years of off-campus football.

Then why keep debating it and continuing the negativity? We are most likely getting the grant. It's a good thing no matter how you look at it. Be happy.

I'm not debating anything. That's over.

I don't like it. I don't expect the city to execute this well, and I fully expect 15 to 20 years from now we will be right back where we are today. If I live that long, I'll be here to rub it in or eat crow.

It is up to you folks that live there to see that doesn't happen this time. I hope it's different this time, but it won't be unless those of you who live there hold the city's feet to the fire.

No need to add anything new, I'll merely cosign.
