RE: 2023 MAC FB schedules
Note that Miami was originally scheduled to have James Madison (who replaced Liberty after they joined C-USA) as our home opener instead of Delaware State, but it's been pushed back to 2026ish. Not sure why, though given how JMU played this season at least we look to be replacing a likely loss with a very likely win.

Agreed. Feel like CFB season just ended. I'm still getting my football fix with the NFL playoffs going on now.

Well, the actual schedule is not out yet, but OHIO just announced its MAC opponents for 2023. Has your school announced theirs yet?
Ours are:
Home - Kent State, Miami, Central Michigan, Western Michigan
Away - Akron, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Northern Illinois
I'm guessing our MACtion games will be Miami, Western Michigan, Bowling Green, and Buffalo.

I was gonna say that the 2022 cross-divisional opponents just appear to be flipped H/A for 2023. But then CMU is new on your slate.

RE: 2023 MAC FB schedules
Last February the Blade had an article on schedule that was posted on here then
https://www.toledoblade.com/sports/ut/20...0220205128 Article no longer up.
Criteria from article that MAC has established
■ Schools can designate one protected Saturday date as a home or road game. This year, for instance, Toledo requested an Oct. 1 home game to lock in its preferred homecoming weekend, AD Mike O’Brien confirmed. Other schools often protect a road date to avoid being stuck on an empty campus over fall break.
■ A school can play no more than two straight road games.
■ A school can play no more than two home November games, and can’t be at home on consecutive Thanksgiving weekends, traditionally a poor draw.
■ A school can have only two short weeks created by the staggered late schedule, including one five-day turnaround — as long as the opponent is also on five days’ rest.
■ A school now must play every league member at least once every four years and three times every eight years.
The big news...the streak is over
2023: Toledo at Miami
2026: Miami at Toledo
2027: Toledo at Miami

Yeah, Ball State was dropped for Central Michigan.

To bad they did not include one protected rivalry game as Toledo and Miami.

So Toledo hasn't hosted Miami since 2011, but was last there in 09. In 2023 we will end a 14 year drought of playing at Yeager.
Because of the gap in 24 and 25, Toledo will go 15 years without hosting a conference opponent. Which will set a new record. Wild stuff.

Toledo's protected rivalry game is Bowling Green.
It is plain weird how long Toledo and Miami have gone without facing each other.

Thanks, we will see both Miami and Toledo in 2023 along with EMU at their place.

Who will Miami schedule when The University of Cincinnati drops them in FB?
16 straight wins gives TUC little reason th keep playing them at Oxford every third year.

UC has an upcoming game in Peden v. the Bobcats. . . unless they cancel beforehand. Or have already cancelled.

Cincinnati is about to get a rude awakening.... Back to being a subpar basketball school over the next few years. UC was pretty much overrated every year in the last decade, and was able to finish with decent records due to playing weak schedules. To be honest, they should have lost to OU back in 18 (at home), and furthermore, the 2016 WMU team was far better than any undefeated team UC has had over the last 20 years... No question.

Let's be real, the 2016 Broncos were one of the best MAC teams of all time but their best wins were against Northwestern, Illinois, and Toledo. Unlike a team like 2007 Hawaii they showed they were legit when they hung in there against Wisconsin in the Cotton Bowl, but at the end of the day they had zero wins over ranked opponents. 2020 UC on the other hand beat ranked Army, SMU, and Tulsa teams while only losing by a field goal to UGA; 2021 UC beat ranked Notre Dame and Houston while demolishing just about everyone else until they ran into Bama in the CFP. On a neutral field I'd take the Bearcats by two possessions.
This fall is the best chance we have at finally knocking off UC with Fickell gone, a lot of transfers leaving their program, and Gabbert coming back for us. I doubt it'll happen given Chuck's OOC record and with how well UC does at Nippert, but crazier things have happened.

There were 9 NFL Draft Picks on the '21 UC team, including the guy who is a finalist for the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. The 2020 team was basically the same cast of guys, with the addition of NFL Draft Picks James Hudson (Browns), Darrick Forrest (Washington), James Wiggins (Arizona Cardinals) and Gerrid Doaks (Dolphins). UC nearly beat Georgia in 2020 and the 21 squad beat what was ultimately the #5 team in the country in the final AP Poll in South Bend.
As to the UC/Miami series it will likely continue throughout the remainder of the contract, although I would not be surprised if UC buys out of the neutral site game at PBS every third year to make it a 2 for 1 series.
As to the claim UC will start stinking going forward without Luke Fickell that remains to be seen. Other than a few years under Tuberville UC has managed to remain strong through losses of several coaches before. UC now will be earning more revenue than they have ever before. If Scott Satterfield doesn't get it done, he will be quickly fired and replaced with someone who will.
