Kickoff specialist. Nice.

I wouldn't call him a specialist. He's more likely to kick it out of bounds than out of the end zone.

Little sour grapes!!! His stats last year show 6 touchbacks and one out of bounds. Coe for us had way more touchbacks (large number of extra kickoffs) and had four out of bounds.

Sour grapes? He was benched for a transfer from Miami.
He is a local kid coming back just to be our back-up placekicker and handle kickoffs. You took the false shot at him about a tendency to kick the ball out of bounds.

From what I understand, he’s a PWO anyway, so not taking a scholly up. Let the kid come home.

Yeah, if we spent two schollies on kickers, I'd be filing a misuse of public funds complaint with the state 03-lmfao

Didn't they just hire the young guy from Incarnate Word? If so that's likely a pass happy offense he's going to.

Raises a question in my mind if UC will be able to recruit TX better in the near future. We've already been in a lesser conference with Houston and SMU but had few TX recruits as I recall. Will the Bearcats' fortunes change playing P5 football with Baylor, TCU, TTU, and Houston on an annual basis?

When we first got the nod to the B12 i thought that our ability to dip into TX while maintaining a wall in the greater tri-state area would be the key to our success. Looking back in hindsight, i don't imagine we are going to have too much success in TX, in part because of the schools you list in your inquiry. Outside of the b12 schools, there's TAMU and UT as TX p5 schools. in the vicinity, there's LSU, and OK, OSU, and Arkansas. For anyone who wants to play p5 competition within a day's drive of TX, you'll have no shortage of options.

i'm also projecting here but i always imagined the pull of a TX native being able to play college ball in TX far greater than playing elsewhere, let alone in OH, all things being equal.

Finally, looking at the coaching staff Coach Satt has compiled, there's very little connection to TX or that region. i'm not saying that aren't going to be able to recruit TX, but more that there's no clear and strong linkage to that area.

i will say that for all the difficulty we will likely encounter recruiting TX from the prep ranks, i can see us having success in the transfer portal. Second chance recruiting tends to be more rooted in reality so i can see us pulling more TX recruits from the portal.

If we continue to have success in the state of Cincinnati and better recruiting in Florida and maybe Georgia, we will be good.

The staff seems to have a lot of linkages to the Carolinas. Strong recruiting in Cincy/OH/Tri-State+MI, FL, GA, NC, SC, and VA, we're in really good shape. Anything from TX and any state one degree from TX will be icing on the cake.

Satterfield's staff did land the #1 RB in the nation out of TX. Not sure how much of that was recruiting/relationship or how much of it was adidas.

With him jumping to another Adidas school with insane NIL money, I'm thinking it had very little to do with a coach.

Was thinking the same thing but I wondered if he or someone else could slide to tackle for depth if he was even interested. He's a grad transfer so I imagine he wants nothing less than starter playing time.

He would probably be the least likely of these guys to bump outside if he even ends up coming here. Kandra played tackle in HS at least, but I do think the outside zone scheme they used at Louisville is perfect for a guy like Ethan Green. Very athletic, good hands and feet, slightly undersized in the weight side of things.

Just passing along some info. Braden Smith has entered transfer portal. Rumor here is he’s on his way to Cincinnati. Hate losing him.

Any intel on him as a player you can share CJim? I don't know anything in terms of measurables, stats, strengths/weaknesses, etc.

He was a good player. He was our main punt returner. Has good dependable hands. He threw a touchdown pass in the bowl game. Braden was not a player Louisville wanted to lose.

This is from his bio from UofL:

2022: recorded two punt returns in the win against NC State… in the final play of the game, caught a 31-yard touchdown pass from Brock Domann… recorded 46 yards on three passes and three punt returns for 35 total yards against Clemson… caught two passes for 20 yards and had three punt returns in the win against JMU… threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Jaelin Carter… caught one pass and had two punt returns in the win against Wake Forest… had one 33-yard pass to Malik Cunningham… recorded one catch for seven yards and one punt return in the win versus Pitt… had three punt returns in the win against Virginia… caught two passes for 11 yards against Boston College… totaled three punt returns in the win against USF… recorded 50 receiving yards on five attempts and had three punt returns against Florida State… had 21 receiving yards and 17 yards on punt returns in the win against UCF.

Here’s a link to his UofL bio. I’m not sure how long it will be up.
