He finds his shot...if it's in the same zip code and he tells himself on the way down court he's shooting this possession. Normally you can usually tell it's coming because he runs down court at one speed higher than his normal jog.

His shot selections still isn't great, but he's getting significantly better looks this year than last year. Last year he was still a 35% 3-point shooter. Seems like he is in his own head. But he is doing a lot of other good things on the court.

He's in nearly all of UC's top lineups according to Evanmiya data. His turnover rate has been elite. His assist rate is double what it was last year. His defense has been better, and I think helped by getting more minutes off the bench...not having to go against mismatched 4s quite as much.

Actually those unis are going all the way back to the Steve Collier, Gary Yoder, Hal Ward days....back when we still played at the Armory Fieldhouse.

Bolded, agree on this. And if JD is back next year and willing to accept a sixth man role he could be pretty special. To me, his energy and emotion are never in question, only his decision making on when to pull the trigger outside the arc.

Bolded, my recollection as well. Those were really entertaining UC teams to watch. I believe Collier was Mr. Indiana Basketball and Miller was Mr. Kentucky when he concluded his high school career in Louisville. Those Gale Catlett coached teams had some talent.

Don't forget Pat Cummings was Mr.Basketball in PA. Catlett was way ahead of his time with that NIL stuff.....Warts and all, The Armory Fieldhouse was a great place to watch a basketball game.

The 75-76 Bearcats were a very good team. If Hal Ward had been able to get the ball in within 5 seconds against Notre Dame I believe the Bearcats would have gone deep in the NCAA tournament.

Bolded, oh wow, one of the most crushing NCAA losses, pre-Huggins, in my memory forever. I guess we always remember the ones that got away at the end.

It's consolation to know that nobody was beating IU that year.

To this day I still contend that was a BS five seconds call.....Only 32 teams made the tournament back then, and we out played ND til the end. That ND team had a half dozen NBA guys on it, including Adrian Dantley and Bill Lambier.

But. the Bearcats did beat IU the next year in the final of the Sugar Bowl Tournament.

Second only to Loyola, 1963.

You can see he's really making an effort to play D and rebound and look for his teammates, which he was kinda not doing early. He still takes a bunch of bad shots, and he's not hitting them like he was the last couple years, as bearcatmark noted. I'm impressed that Wes has gotten him to buy into a complementary role. Gotta get him to continue cutting out those forced 3s.

Well... yeah.

IU minus Buckner, May, Wilkerson and Abernathy... but a win is a win.

The final two minutes of that game is on youtube if you want to get angry all over again. Have to say, the level of play is hilarious to me.

UC has basically been cursed in the NCAA tournament since 1963. This program probably should have two more national titles and three or four Final Fours added to its profile if they get just a few things go the other way in a certain game or situation.

In modern Bearcat history 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2002, and 2018 really stick out as missed opportunities to get to another Final Four. 2011, 2015, and 2017 were good enough to go deeper if they got a better draw.

If I remember correctly they said you can't call time out once the count reaches four. Don't know if that still is the rule. Whatever it seemed to be a very quick shady call.

Davenport has played less minutes, but has more 3 attempts than the 3 above him on this list. I thought he would take "better" 3s this year with Nolley in the line up, but that hasn't happened.

Still think he's more than capable of shooting a high percentage, he just needs to be more selective.

Wow! Looking at the conference we're going into, TCU whacks KU by 23 at Allen Fieldhouse. UC has some hard times ahead.
