I'm not as connected as I used to be under earlier regimes, and I'm not in the Dome as much as I used to be.................but...........the word I have (from the inside altho not a close confidant) is that Sander is not in a giant rush to move on. He's ok for the time being. I think his philosophy is "do it right; not quick", with the caveat being that one can be quick if one is prepared.
He is also known to NOT be a fan of search committees and all that. And since Noland trusts him greatly, I think we can be confident the wheels have been turning as they need to turn. There apparently is no timetable - at least outside of Sander's and Noland's purview. As long as Sander still has his rolodex, then I think we can be pretty sure conversations have been going on - and IF it turns out to be a 'football person', then there may be a need to wait until this semester is over. Or even 'til Spring.
And I would imagine it'll be Sander that hires a softball coach - but if he has an AD lined up, then likely that person would be consulted before the hire. Just seems reasonable; I have no factual knowledge that's the plan.

I haven't heard a whisper. I figure Sander stays in to eventually hire another men's basketball coach? However, I don't know any info on any of that. I've asked, and no one seems to know anything.

Thanks. I think it would be great for Sander to hire the next basketball coach. We should be in good hands then. Going forward though, we will need a good AD to take over because we have other problems than just basketball. The new one will have to deal with the football coach situation.

Yep, I would like to see that too. As far as the football coach, I'm willing to give him at least another year to see if he can turn it around. Football & basketball can turn around quickly. I did have a conversation last week with one of the assistant coaches and he felt that recruiting was going well, and they're hitting the portal pretty hard.

I listened to Jay's podcast yesterday and he had some good news about recruiting. We have a corner from Pitt that has enrolled. He also said the Will Huzzie is coming back to the Bucs. That is wonderful news. We all know Quarles is back so we have to get the best transfers we can and do the best we can next year. We are still waiting for a QB transfer but the February signing period should give us someone.

Coach Daye said they had about 10-11 QBs "on the board" that they were talking to. I think the kid from Idaho sounds interesting - he's played QB, WR, and RB. Kind of an all around athlete, and he had his best game vs. Eastern Washington, who's traditionally a strong FCS program. Glad to hear about Huzzie, I didn't know that. Also, if you look at who transferred and where they are going - Chandler Martin to Memphis, Alijah Huzzie to UNC, and we've had others go P5 - I can understand why they transfer. The portal, or as Coach Daye called it - the "porthole" changed everything. The good news is you can rebuild your program very quickly. The bad news is you have to do that every year! Not a fan of this, but it is what it is.

Kingsport Times News reporting that Sander is having the interim tag removed and will again be the permanent AD. I consider that to be great news.
