College football season is now over (at least for Illinois fans, not sure about Penn State). So it's time for the Schmolik College Basketball Pick Contest!

The last couple of seasons the basketball pick contest hasn't been as popular as the football pick contest because this board tends to be much more football fans than basketball fans (even among the ACC fans, even among schools which are mainly basketball schools!)

I will run the weekly contests. Just like football it is 10 games a week but due to basketball schedules they can be all days of the week. I intend to post the game schedule each Sunday for games the following week. You can pick each game up to the start of the game. At least one game each week will be a women's game.

Weekly contest:

2 rec points will be given to the weekly winner only if:
3 or more players other than myself participate or
The winner scores 8 or more points (out of a possible 10).

1 rec point will be given to the weekly 2nd place winner only if:
5 or more players other than myself participate or
The 2nd place finisher scores 7 or more points.
There is no tie for 1st place. As per normal Schmolik rules, all who qualify for 1st place prize tie get 1st place points.

Season contest:

3 rec points will be given to the season winner only if:

5 or more players other than myself participate at least one week.
The winner scores at least 50 points over 8 weeks. It is not required to participate every week.

2 rec points will be given to the season winner only if the same conditions are met and there is no tie for 1st place.

To encourage participation for the basketball contest, I will play but not count myself in the standings for rec points (unlike football) although if I win I will brag about it (although since I did win another contest, I have no need to brag about winning my own contests anymore )
