MBB @ Buffalo
11am on ESPN+
Buffalo is 5-7 (D1) but 5-1 at home and 1-0 in the MAC beating a good Ohio team.
NET rankings Buffalo 196 and NIU 309. Buffalo, like the Huskies, played a good OOC schedule. They have balanced scoring but no dominate big man. Will have to keep Hardnett from being dominate against us. Unfortunately, the Huskies tend to make the big men stars of the game. Curtis Jones is their top 3pt man (33 for 86, .384%).
Huskies will need a total effort to win this one.

Don't forget the personal grudge we have to have against Yazid Powell for backing out of his commitment and going to Buffalo.

Good news, NIU only 10.5 dogs.
Bad news, don't take the 10.5 points and NIU, though.
Take the 9.5 and Vegas against KC.

Probably does not matter this season, but is it me or does it feel like every year our team loses more than expected players to injuries every year. I was so excited to see Amos & Neider this season, but of course they are injured and who knows if we will see them anymore this season. Just seems par for the course every year, can never have a full team and get some momentum going

Is there a stat kept for missed bunnies? If so, we would have to be a top 10% worst in conversions around the basket. We have had to had no less that 12 missed bunnies, mostly on a foul and great 3 point play the hard way opportunities. Just kill momentum as we miss the bunnie, get foul shots and then miss them. So frustrating.... ok I am done

75-57 Buffalo with 2 mins left. The dearth of comment on this thread tells me either many are glued to the tube or it's another NIU blah.

What does bunnies mean slang?
a sexually attractive young woman
Bunny: An open, uncontested shot, usually a layup or dunk.
Crump has no inside game (1-2). And apparently can't make free throws either (4-11!!!).

“Could have won”………we were down 15-4 after the opening tip and never got closer……we must have watched different games.

Bunnies is the plural form of bunny, so I was mostly correct. I did sneak in one singular use and spelled it bunnie. LOL. Burno mentioned missing these bunnies in the post game.

RE: MBB @ Buffalo
I was in the car for the duration of the game today and listened to it on the radio via the NIU Huskies mobile app which worked flawlessly.
With that said, boy oh boy...there are three things I am really gettin tired of:
1. Turnovers - they weren't the complete sh!tshow today in this category but I'm so shell shocked about it this year, any TO is triggering.
2. Illegal screens - I might be imagining things but I feel like we've been getting a minimum of like 1.5 illegal screen calls against us going back well into the Montgomey era. And it's baffling.
3. Anthony Crump shooting free throws - hey...he could have made all of them today and we'd still have lost but for fvck's sake, every time he goes to the line I chalk it up as a turnover. Crump shot almost half of our FTs today and complete skewed the stat. Overall, the team shot 56% from the line which is pitiful, but if you eliminate Crumps shots, all of the sudden the team shoots 71.4%. Not stellar mind you...but way f'n better.
Actually, I was looking at this the other day.
This year, NIU is shooting 68.4% from the line. Let's break it down:
Plintauskas - 4 for 4 - 100%
Youngblood - 4 for 4 - 100%
Wiemers - 4 for 4 - 100%
Coit - 21 of 25 - 84%
Ibarguen - 5 of 6 - 83.3%
Williams - 44 of 55 - 80%
Thornton - 7 of 9 - 77.8%
Amos - 3 of 4 - 75%
Hunter - 9 of 13 - 69.2%
Nutter - 31 of 45 - 68.9%
Russell - 4 of 7 - 57.1%
Crump - 18 of 42 - 42.9%
Durosinmi - 6 of 16 - 37.5%
It's those last two that are killing this team from the line. Russell too but he's only shot 7 FTs and shot 83.3% from the line last year so I doubt this is his true level (ie, he's not the problem and 7 shots is the epitome of a small sample size...because, if he made just one of the 3 he missed...he's all of a sudden shooting 71.4%).
If you take Crump and Durosinmi's shots out of the equation, the Huskies are shooting 77.2% from the line (136 of 176). Those two players are so bad at the line, they lower our FT percentage by 8.8 percentage points.
Those two players account for a quarter of our FT shots (24.7%) and 45.9% of our missed FT shots.
It's baffling. I'm almost 48 years old and haven't played any kind of competitive basketball since my intramural days in the Rec Center and, on occasion, I will grab a basketball and shoot free throws. I typically do it in chunks of 10s to make the math easy and I have been a 60% FT shooter (almost on the nose) for like 10 years with absolutely no practice and checking just a few time a year.
How anyone who practices basketball on the regular shoots anything less than 70% is mind-boggling to me...let alone sub 50%...or close to 40%...

I was wondering the same.
He gut hurt early in the 1st half but, according to radio, came off on his own power and then returned to the bench and came back in but didn't get back in in the 2nd half but was on the bench with ice on his knee.
