Even hard for me to sugarcoat this one
Up by 20, at home, against a team picked to finish last. Hard to process what I just witnessed.

I feel the same. I was there and the second half was so bad all around that it’s hard to describe.

Losing like we did at home last night is worse than losing by 30 at home. I bet Beard would not let that happen. Speaking of Beard, he is available.

Just googled it. Apparently he was fired. Would we take him back? We took Wimp. He didn't beat up a woman (maybe he was alleged to have slapped her, can't really recall), but he apparently did have an affair while married. We can argue we "know" his character, since he was here for a year. Could we deal with the backlash? Would we want to? Interesting situation. Someone will hire him in a year or two.

Sanderson resigned from Alabama on May 18, 1992, days after Nancy Watts, his longtime secretary, filed a sexual discrimination lawsuit against him and the university with the US Equal Opportunity Commission. Both Sanderson and Watts admitted they had had an affair from about 1970 to 1985, but both offered conflicting stories about what happened on March 17, 1992.[3] Watts said that on that day, two days before Alabama was to play Stanford in the NCAA tournament, Sanderson punched her in the face during an argument, giving her a black eye. Sanderson said Watts had become hysterical and that, in an effort to defend himself, he extended his hand and she collided with it, resulting in the injury. More than a year later, Watts' lawsuit against Sanderson, the university and then-athletic director Hootie Ingram, was settled out of court, days before it was scheduled to go to trial.

Alabama and Sanderson's homeowner's insurance policy paid Watts $275,000. Sanderson's employment with the university ended after 32 years.[

If you believe Sanderson's version then I have some land in Florida I want to sell you.

So really Sanderson's situation was not all that different than Beard's. Of course, I don't really believe we will hire him back. But, stranger things have happened.

Winning big cures a lot of problems.
A lot of problems.

Ya, it really does. Really have no idea whether we would consider taking him back, although I doubt it. Interestingly, since he was so successful, but only here for a year I really have no idea what folks in the athletic department thought about him as a person. Did folks like him? Was he easy to get along with? Was he viewed as a "good" person? Obviously, none of that matters when you are winning big. I hear plenty about the personality and character of our present coach. And, to be honest, if he was winning I wouldn't care one bit.
