Online Sports Gambling
With sports gambling now legal in Ohio, what online betting sites are people using?

Are there better/worse online sites for betting?

There were a lot of Ohio pre-registering promos going around through Dec. 31 before things went live. It's gambling so there are still a lot of offers out there to hook you in, but I think some of them could be doubled-up on with pre-registration. Some may still be available for pre-registration deals if there are sportsbooks that haven't gone live yet.

I signed up for several of what I perceived to be the bigger ones but haven't placed any bets yet. (BTW, I'm guessing several of the ones I signed up for have referral bonuses available for both parties so anyone can pm me if interested on either end.)

So I don't have the experience or knowledge yet to recommend one sportsbook over any other. I am NOT vouching for this website's list or info, but here's one rundown of some Ohio sportsbooks:

Bet Ohio

Probably a smart move. The only money bet I made all last year was for about $12 on UC to beat Louisville in the Wasabi Bowl. I don't even remember if it was a moneyline or included the pointspread but alas it did not matter.

FanDuel and DraftKings both had a ton of no-miss boosted bets (1 rebound for the Cavs in a game, 1 made 3 in a game for OSU, 1 point scored in the Bills-Bengals game) to entice people...bankrolled $350 in free money just form those on top of the $200 free bet promos for DrafKings and the $100 free bet promo for FanDuel. I tend to keep my online account at $200 and just withdraw any winnings above that every other night or so.

MGM has a promo for tonight's OSU v Purdue game. Bet $25 and if it loses, you get that back as a credit. I'm sure they have much more for new clients.

FanDuel has a $50 max bet paying out +100 that a team will score in the Purdue-OSU game
DraftKings has the same bet but as a $25 max. You can clean up with just these promos.

Done! Thanks for the heads up. I have been trying to look every day for something like this and they keep popping up sporadically.

I'm up on sports for my life but I'm sure it's because most my gambling has been against others...not Vegas.

Also up on poker mainly because I've only played a handful of times since college (2007 was graduation) but got into it right before the big explosion and won a lot as everyone had decided they wanted to play but nobody was very good. The few times i played in a casino i got crushed.

I've only ever left the blackjack table with more money than I started with one time...I had a really friendly dealer at church festival giving us a ton of breaks and hints.

Probably will do some sports betting now that it's legal. I suspect it will be a losing proposition. But I won't bet much.

Dang, didn't see this in time.

Do your own research as I'm still learning. But it looks to me like Fanduel has a new state OH special boost at +100 odds for Bengals/Ravens game to score 1+ total points. Max bet is $50 and you can use part of your $100 sign-up free bets if you have them.

Any other crazy intro deals out there?

Yeah, they've had one daily since the 1st for Ohio teams...I'd imagine this is the last one though.

RE: Online Sports Gambling
Found a nice glitch in the system last night. Was online on my account last night around 7:10 and looked at the college basketball lines. Kentucky was a 11 point favorite against South Carolina. At the time I looked, South Carolina was up in the game 13-2 and still at +11. Took SC and the points, which was more like +22 at the time.

Point being, if they don't adjust their lines on huge swings very early, you can find yourself with lines that are way out of whack in your favor.

To each their own. I would never tell someone to gamble, but it's only a bad habit if you do it irresponsibly. Otherwise, I don't see any harm.

I never gambled illegally with a bookie, but now that its legal, I'm enjoying it (and honestly college hoops was the thing I most wanted to bet, so this is the season where I'll probably bet most often).

I've added a few hundred dollars while putting very little into the two sportsbooks I have been using (draftkings and fanduel). That's mainly because they were giving away money to gamble on their sites.

I think the largest bet I've made so far is 25 dollars. The vast majority of bets I make are between 10-20 dollars. I've also made a few just for fun $5.00 parlay's.

RE: Online Sports Gambling
I tend to budget out a couple hundred per season I care about and know enough about to bet (CFB/NFL, Hockey, CBB) and set a block on deposits for 3 months after. Once that money is gone, I'm done, but that has never been the case. I'll do $5-$10 bets mostly, nothing too crazy...there are definitely walls you can build to making it a problem if you're smart enough to do it.

I'm afraid if I joined one of those sites I'd turn into the next Pete Rose or Art Schlichter.

I've always been surprised that Schlichter didn't start a service and just told people to bet opposite of him.
