i imagine it will fall around the 70s...where it has essentially been since 2013.

I just don't see how that's possible

Agree, Missouri, Boise State and Tulane are not EASY games.

I fail to see how playing a regularly bowl eligible SEC team basically on the road (neutral site in their home state), the defending G5 NY6 representative, & arguably the top G5 program the last decade, make this one of the easiest schedules in program history.

All of these 10+ wins are minimum posts seems a little big headed or biased. I will wait until the professionals in Vegas post the over/under win total to make my call on what’s a reasonable expectation…….then place my bet depending on whether I believe CRS can deliver or not…..but cheer for the tigers success regardless.

Last season, Vegas had our win total at 8.5. This year, it was dopped to 7.5. Luckily, I went under for both years and cashed.
Majority of this year's team will be back, I don't see both coordinators leaving for other jobs (don't know about the SPT coordinator).
I'll imagine it'll be at 7.5 or even 8 for next season. Can't see if at 8.5 unless the under is a heavy price. If it is at 8.5, I'm running to the window fast.

Because it's behind a pay wall and posting premium content has traditionally been frowned upon here. That said, a quick summary of what the article said would be nice.

It was my understanding that posting such content was OK if a link was provided. I may well be wrong. Thanks.

I agree ! The 2018 schedule was a pretty weak one

I was thinking we've had some of the all time weak schedules already.

Based on a board I used to post on it could be about copyright issues. There they didn't even want you posting all of a free article if I remember right. Just the link and a portion of the article.

Boise State is in a slump like us.
They have their own version of Ryan Silverfield.
They haven't been the good Boise State since Chris Peterson left them a few years ago.
They shoulda hired Cowboys OC Kellen Moore to be the coach.

We should be favored in 11/12 games and the Mizzou game is very winnable. Anything less than double digits wins is another disappointment with Ruin, especially now with 3 historic recruiting classes and a seasoned QB.

No need to continue and lower the bar, time to step up and win games. We have the talent, now it's time for the actual coaching to match or exceed the talent level and produce, as the rolodex of excuses laid out the past 3 years is over.

The problem is that our AD has already publicly set the minimum std as 6 wins & a bowl game. Sure he said he wants more but that the minimum std is 6 wins. RS should be able to get 6 wins with this schedule while sitting in the lockroom even if he can't break even in-conference. Not to mention there won't be 15K in the stands with "meeting that std".

You evidently don't really understand what "mimimum standard" means in this context. Or, very likely, you just don't like telling the whole story.

Minimum standard is typically okay 1 time. But 3 straight years, it would not be accepted.

In fact, Laird said that just reaching a ninth straight bowl game, the minimum standard, is not enough.

“Our shared goal and expectation remain for Memphis to be the top program in our conference and compete annually on the national stage. Just okay is not okay.”

Next year will not be the easiest schedule in history. But it could be the most "new coaches" we've ever faced in one year. If the initial release of conference games doesn't change, we'll have these opponents with new coaches:
USF
Charlotte
UAB
UNT
Navy
Bethune-Cookman

Good luck scouting and game planning, Coach!

This should be the goal. Being bottom third in a G5 and barely making "participation trophy" bowls doesn't cut it. We could be so much better than that, and it will help drive fans into the seats.

If you listen to some posters, the University of Memphis might as well be a HBC and that's why we wont' go anywhere.

10-2 regular season at a minimum.
So, if we don't beat Tulane, Boise State and Missouri......it's a bad year? I think that record could put is in the conference championship game at 9-3.

What? Only need to play a 3 or 4 game season? Who do we think we are .. the SEC?

RE: What’s Next For Memphis
We have a very top heavy schedule in 2023. Only a few opponents pose a threat on paper. Boise St is solid brand, but an average football team. Missouri just went 6-7 with wins vs La Tech, Abilene Christian, Vandy, South Carolina, New Mex St, Ark. Tulane is a tough conference foe - similar to UCF during Norvell days.

All conference games are hard. It's true in every conference.

We play a TON of new coaches.

We need to win AT LEAST 8 games. That's a disappointing but acceptable result. We should be in the 10-2 range, while in AAC Champ Game.
