RE: 2023 Football Schedule
Does the Jacksonville State game count toward bowl eligibility?
They are moving to the FBS in 2023 so I think it does but I honestly have no idea

Minnesota is NOT an automatic L. We should compete.

RE: 2023 Football Schedule
I agree with you, Bob. Minnesota is losing their QB who starter for about the last 48 years for them, when he was hurt this year they were not the same team. Ibrahim may have been the best RB in the Big Ten and he is gone. They use their tight end a lot and he is a senior. They had two all-Big Ten o-linemen...both are gone. Looking at their defense most of their top players are seniors.

Now with the COVID stuff who knows if all of them are seniors and gone or seniors with an extra year. Either way they are a team that could be losing a lot. Either way it will be a difficult game for us, but if we have our QB I think we have a shot.

Jacksonville State should be interesting, it'll be their first year in FBS (they are joining Conference USA). They went 9-2 this year, but their only game against a FBS team this year was against Tulsa. Tulsa was a 5-7 team this year and smoked Jacksonville State 54-17.

I think at least 3-1 in nonconference games is very doable again.

RE: 2023 Football Schedule
Ok, I know it's January but is anyone else looking at the roster and getting excited for next season?

Positives.....
-Returning QB with McCoy on his heels
-returning LB's (Sparacio and Kline)
-Dooley, Howie and other recent transfers on the O-line
-Dline was young but should shine this yr
-Secondary loaded with talent
-Both starting RB's back
-11th yr head coach with his best recruiting class ever this last season

Great time to be an EMU fan

Most of the transfers are on the current roster. Who do we sign in February?

RE: 2023 Football Schedule
There has been some talk of Minnesota being a winnable game (which I agree with), and I just happened to notice their schedule. They actually start the year off with a conference game at home against Nebraska (there will be a lot of hype around that game because it is a Thursday night game opening weekend with Rhule making his debut) and their third game of the year is down in Chapel Hill against Heisman/potential #1 pick hyped QB Drake Maye and North Carolina. Sandwiched between those two games....lowly Eastern Michigan.

I think that is a perfect set-up for us, especially if it is a noon (which would be 11:00 AM local) kick. There usually doesn't seem to be much energy in big ten stadiums for those early kickoffs against non-P5 schools.

Love it We will also have at least some time to see how our QB situation shakes out.

Bonus for the Eagles if Minnesota wins that game against Nebraska...makes it easier to look past EMU to the NC game.

Really like the 4 OOC games 1 - 4 with alternating home and away.

BTW, Jacksonville State is in Alabama.

Per Tweet, the Howard game has been moved from Saturday to Friday. No surprise.

I prefer Saturday because of the HS football conflicts.

Most high school games that week are on Thursday night because of Labor Day weekend. At least in Michigan that is how they typically do it.

Some are but not all. This schedule change means I'll be missing the EMU opener.
