MyBB Kent State @ Cleveland State
The Golden Flashes head to The Bert L. and Iris S. Wolstein Center for a Saturday afternoon matchup with Coach Daniyal Robinson's Vikings. Cleveland State is 6-4 on the year and 4-1 in front of the dark curtain. They went toe to toe with the Cincinnati Bearcats and the Ohio Bobcats in early November and have won 6 of 7 since then.

This is a big game for Kent State. I expect a halfway decent crowd on Saturday and a good atmosphere. While taking it to Cleveland State may not exactly "make up" for tough losses to C of C, Houston and Gonzaga, it could certainly set a nice tone for the rest of the non conference slate.

In order to get it done, the Golden Flashes will have to slow down Tae Williams and Deshon Parker. Williams is a 6'7 junior in his first year with the Vikings. He averages 9 points and 5 rebound a game. Parker, a 6'4/195 guard from Dayton Ohio, returns for his senior year and is averaging 10 points and 4 rebounds per game. I do think that Kent State matches up well with these guys.

CSU also gets some offense from 6'0 senior Yahell Hill and 6'8 junior Tristan Enaruna. It will be interesting to see how Kent State handles Enaruna, who transferred after a solid season at Iowa State last year. He just looks the part of a CSU, grind it out type forward who is going to make you earn it.

I watch plenty of CSU Basketball and have seen some good battles between the Vikings and the Flashes. Overall, this is a young CSU team who does not have the talent that Kent does. But they will get physical. I hope the Flashes are prepared to fight fire with fire and take it to the Vikes on Saturday. Looking forward to taking this one in.

burden, they want Cleveland State +8.5....they can have it!

Kent State 72
Cleveland State 58
Thomas with 12 and 11, Carry with 19

GO FLASHES!

AGREE WITH ALL OF THIS ...

By no means an easy game for KSU. Vikings defense is very disruptive and overall might even be a tad more athletic than Kent. This has always been a red letter game for CSU.

Flashes can't sleep on this one.

Ok, too unselfish so far. Passing up many good looks for an extra pass.

Feels like we should be up by a lot more than 5 right now. 16 free throw attempts to 0 is what's keeping CSU in it.

Offense looks sloppy and uninterested in attacking the basket.

No idea how Gio gets a tech for getting shoved by the guy kicking the ball away from him.

These announcers are real broken up about us getting a 2nd free throw with 6 minutes to go in the game.

It was nice to take one in live. From what I can tell, CSU will be a tough team to beat in the Horizon. Not enough offense to win consistently, but they battle.

Not a good performance by the Flashes. Too many wasted possessions. Cross court passes and rushed shots are not exactly “complimentary basketball” for a team that emphasizes defense.

But despite the offensive struggles, the good guys pulled it out. I was impressed by Jacobs willingness to go to hole. Same with Sullinger.

Go Flashes!

True, but it's nice to see they can bet a decent opponent on the road even playing just a so-so game.

Solid win. Didn't play our best but still controlled the game most of the way. Never trailed against a pretty solid, upper class men heavy CSU team. The rest of our non conference schedule doesn't feature anyone super impressive. NM St is KP 131 right now which would be an upper tier MAC school most years (we're 66 I believe). Then the two teams that we could play in the second Sun Bowl tournament game are both lower than NM St. So climbing the rankings much more will be pretty difficult at this point. Just keep winning. Right now we don't have any performances that would count as a blemish on our resume.

I would just like to take the time to compliment CSU on a great effort. They are particularly well coached and have several talented players. I am not sure that we were prepared for that effort. Love our team and coach.

Agree. I expected a tough game from them.

Carry seems a bit off. He's down to 30.5% from three and 37.8% overall. Those are really bad percentages. I think we need to work on getting him quality looks early in games to get him going a bit. It feels like a lot of his attempts are a high degree of difficulty. We have 3 other PGs. We should be able to get him some good looks.

A guards best friend is a good productive post player ... I'll just leave it at that.

Watched a little bit of the Missouri game yesterday. Didn't realize DeAndre Gholston ended up there and is starting for them. Shame he got away.

I just got to say it is cool to see a former Head Coach, now the Assistant and the Assistant, now the Head Coach

The link won't open, but if you are referring to Jim Christian, he is assisting Senderoff but isn't he technically one of Senderoff's bosses? His title is: Assistant Athletic Director, Basketball Administration

If anyone needs a reason to appreciate our team. We're currently 63rd on Kenpom. I just flipped on the Florida OU game. Unranked Florida is 55th on KP and is up 37 on OU.
