XHCBC - candidate somewhere?
...with all of the openings going on, at pretty much all levels of FBS, Clark might be ready to jump back into it... no problems with that OTHER than if he would potentially gut our roster via the transfer portal...

...and, what level do y'all think Clark could land if he is 'in the market'? Auburn has reportedly backed off of Freeze, so not sure where their options lie at this point...

As we've seen with AK, the portal taketh but the portal giveth.

HCBV was quoted by the color commentator on one of our games as saying BC will very likely coach again…but not here.

Honestly, I don’t see Bill taking a G5 job (unless the bad blood with Ingram/Watts was too much to where it forced him out, which doesn’t seem to be the case).

A logical decision for him might be to go to Alabama as DC.

...the only 'uncomfortable' scenario is that there are now, what, THREE AAC openings? (Tulane, USF, Tulsa (Cincy is lame duck to BigXII)) - and it would be pretty odd if he landed at one of those, obviously as we are heading into the conference - why not just stay at UAB? I know there are answers to that statement which only a few (if any) here know, so -that's that.

I just think he might want to land a 'P5' job as HC (lower level, I guess), or, as noted, be a DC for an SEC program and then jump a few years later...

Don't underestimate the communication that occurs between ADs. There was clearly dysfunction between the football staff and the AD's office. Those guys talk to each other

There's a rumor that Leach may retire for health reasons, which opens up Mississippi State, but I don't see him as a candidate for anything. Georgia Tech was probably his most realistic option and they just signed Fritz from Tulane.

Also, if Coach Clark gets another job, does he also poach his assistants back? It’d be hard for them to turn down, if he’s at a P5 job.

Miss St does seem like a good cultural fit.

Seems weird for Clark to take another G5 job. I'm sure he wants P5, but the knock on him there will be he has no P5 experience even as an assistant. Would probably be better for him to work as a DC at a top 15 program then use that to get a upper half P5 job in a couple years.

I don't think the vast majority of fans understand that the head coach has way more things to do than just what is on the field. The head coach is the CEO. Yes he makes decision during the game, but the OC and DC and assistants have major responsibility during preperation and practice. Now days the recruiting co-ordinator is a major staff member. Clark would do well at a P5 just so long as he has a lot of P5 experienced staff.

But Clark only wants his best friends on his staff…none of whom have P5 experience.
His loyalty to his friends is admirable…but…

Admirable yes, but anyone who watched our last couple of seasons would see the problems straight away.

LOL. Freeze made it back into the SEC. He's not going anywhere unless he gets paid a lot to leave AU.

My old fashioned message board fan no sources gut feeling is that Bill Clark goes to Liberty. Neither are each other's first choice, but they are not last choices either.

It doesn’t seem likely that Clark will take a coaching job this year. He is only about six months out from his back operation and he said it would take a full year for recovery. Next year’s coaching carousel seems more likely.
