RE: Fickelll
Luke Fickell was a great coach for UC, but don't ignore that UC was a great program for Luke Fickell.

He didn't stay because he was loyal, he stayed because he knew uc was a great job where he could win big.

He left because he saw another program he felt was a great fit where he felt he could do more. The list of programs he felt could do that were small. That speaks volumes for UC.

RE: Fickelll
The Athletic article that is now up reads like Luke was sad we made the playoffs last year and he missed out on the ND job and a few others as a result.

He did his best to avoid that this year and knew WI was waiting for him for 2 months. Screw him.

******* fraud.

As they used to say in the Wire:

"We just get got."

Agree Mark. Dantonio. Kelly. Jones. Fickell. Michigan State. Notre Dame. Tennessee. Wisconsin. All used Cincinnati to move up. Cincinnati gained from each coach to build its brand and winning at a bigly clip. We've made some great hires and will continue with the next one..

Well, that explains the half a$$ed coaching effort this year.

He never really turned down notre dame. Just wasn't going to take it before the cfp

We'd have been better off had he accepted the ND job after the CCG last year. We'd have Coach Freeman right now.

This timing is the worst possible for UC's program health. Going to get clubbed like a baby seal next season. Was already going to be hard with what we lacked on the current roster.

I hope he's rich and unemployed in 4 years.

This is entirely plausible.

I’m not pissed. He’s a great program builder and could’ve stayed here for life in the AAC. With the move to the Big XII he would’ve had to up his assistant hiring game and I’m not sure he was capable of that. He’s not a good game day coach. He needs to be surrounded by guys who are pros. Maybe he felt he could pull more at Wisky. His style wasn’t going to play in the Big XII

Pissed when he's leaving is not the same as pissed that he's leaving. Frankly, I'm OK with getting a new coach. We were going to get our asses kicked on the regular in the B12 with how we hire staff and coach not to lose.

If you look at what I’ve written thus far, you’d see you are wrong on both counts. I wish Fickell well, but I’ve also said big time B1G fans aren’t known for their patience. Fortunately for Fickell, the B1G west is on the same caliber as the AAC.

Unfortunately for Fickell, the B1G West is about to not exist. No more freebies to the CCG

So he's screwed us and also we'd have been screwed entering the B12 anyway, so F him, let's get a new coach, and also the potential replacements aren't very inspiring?

At the end of the day, a coach is going to do what's best for him and his family. Timing be damned. Nothing was worse from the Kelly exit in terms of timing IMHO. Sugar Bowl against Urban Meyer. Yeeesh. You know what? It sucked donkey diks but we survived it and moved on. We will again. I'm excited about the next hire. Can't help it...

Yep, all football college football coaches are carpetbaggers. Win big for 3 or 4 years and then on to the next "dream" job. He had a hell of a run, and stayed longer than most. Hopefully, the next hire does so well we are doing this again in 4 years. That's just how it is.

Appreciate everything good Fickell did for the program prior to this season but he hit cruise control.

Hope he turns out to be Scott Frost 2.0 in Madison though.

Just hide the co-eds with bleach blonde hair, high heels, and painted on jeans!

I know he has 3 NC's, but do we really want a guy who was essentially fired from his last 2 jobs because of character issues?

We hired one before CLF who had a wife drive through a red light and end up killing a 90 year old with no investigation by campus cops about what she was doing before getting behind the wheel so what the heck.

And Tubs ended up being the worst hire in the past 20 years.

I was adamantly against pursuing Pitino, just as I am Meyer. He may be a bigger two faced lying jerk than Brian Kelly.
