When Pat Culpepper was fired here, he went to a HS in Texas as head coach and got a raise

Yes it is! So thank God you have no role in the decision-making process. The majority of people on here do not consider DIII or DII coaches to necessarily be qualified for coordinator positions and you want someone to make the jump from high school to DI coordinator. That is crazy!
It’s not though. It has been successful, and Hammock has no connections - the idea is not that far fetched.

Yes it is that far fetched. No. 1, How do you know Hammock has no connections? No. 2, IF in the unlikely event he "has no connections" despite having been a running backs coach at NIU and Minnesota, co-offensive coordinator at Minnesota, assistant head coach at Wisconsin, running backs coach with the Baltimore Ravens, maybe some assistant coach somewhere is looking for a Division I job that you don't know about. Why wouldn't a GA from some FBS or FCS be less qualified than a high school coach?

You are moving the goal posts. I said a high school HC moving to a D1 coordinator job is not far fetched. If you know how to use the google you can find a bunch of guys who have done so (some even straight to HC…which is crazy).

He has no connections, that’s a known thing - I mean if he had great connections would this staff be full of cast offs? The only guy who had any kind of buzz was the OC - and since stepping up from South Dakota he hasn’t done amazing.

So again, yes a high school HC could be a good choice for OC. He’ll, a bunch of high school HCs were position coaches, or GAs, at one point. So your argument is a clear case of moving the goal posts. Some people like to try to do that to win an argument…by changing the argument. Lol

Please give 3 examples of an IL HS coach going directly to D1 coordinator? Preferably in the last 5 years

Why does it have to be Illinois HS coaches? That's really narrowing the pool. There have been many HS coaches who have made the jump.

I know Nevada tried hiring legendary Bishop Gorman's coach to head their program. It ended terribly.

Are you talking about Tony Sanchez? Because he did go from Bishop Gordon (85-5 over 6 seasons) to the HC job at UNLV where he went 20-40 over 5 seasons.

He's currently the WR coach at New Mexico State.

Ah yes. That was it. UNLV, which is a really really hard program to try and turn around. They have a nice stadium tho.

They're old stadium was fine but their new one is....well...otherworldly for a program like UNLV. I wonder what the university is paying to rent that place?

A super quick google search says it might be upwards of $250k per game but there are some qualifications worked into the deal that may adjust that number somewhat.

Wow...

Sam Boyd Stadium is beautiful and has a great view of the mountains. I'm sure it gets hot in the stadium early in the season but no one forces them to play at noon (as far as I know).

I guess they have money to burn. Seems like there are other areas they could utilize that money, but I digress.

What was Akron playing for? For dignity, for pride, for team, for the fans, for team-mates, for the coaches, for Akron, to not be embarrassed!
"Why risk an injury or play hard"? Why show up at all! Mail it in. NIU footbal embarrassed themselves, embarrassed NIU and embarrassed NIU fans.
And as a bonus we have 4 more years of that fat puke of a coach. Was he embarrassed? Did he apologize to the fans and NIU? 4 MORE YEARS.

El Dude you're a LOSER. Hams is our coach who delivered a championship that losers like you could not even imagine winning much less make the effort to make it happen. Name calling of champions is unacceptable,

We noticed the difference on the two sidelines before the game even started. Huskies had zero “juice” (I guess the jerseys got lost). Standing around like a bunch of mopes. Akron was fired up from the get-go, like they were playing in the Sugar Bowl. Kudos to the Zips. They deserved to win that game.

How about you use google and come up with a list and as to your "some even straight to HC," do you mean like the legendary Gerry Faust at Notre Dame, who then washed out at Akron. Or maybe you mean Bob Cummings at Iowa.
As much as the game has changed in terms of recruiting, scheduling, the portal, etc., try to limit your google search to the last seven or eight years.
Regardless of what you, I, or anyone else thinks of Hammock, the only important person in this equation is STF. Since you believe you have such a strong grasp on collegiate football, how about you tell us what connections STF has in order to find a replacement. Keep in mind that a majority on this board (myself included) wanted Hot Rod gone, maybe we should all be careful what we wish for.

I always thought the same thing about Sam Boyd. Honestly I wish Huskie Stadium was as an ice as Sam Boyd was. It's got decent press boxes in the Wells Fargo tower and I think the whole thing has seat backs. Plus wasn't it just redone in 2015?

I get that it was far away from campus. But I don't think the stadium was as big of an issue as how bad that program was. Wish we had the luxury to say, that's that on that.
