Apparently, a lot of guys hung it up before the game. What an embarrassing, pathetic effort.

Makes one wonder are many headed out via transfer portal. How many would want to come to NIU after this kind of season? Especially losing to a team like Akron this bad. When coach was new with new excitement could entice Bowers and Lombardi to come over. Now?

Playing time.

You have to play on Saturday to play on Sunday. Lots of guys go from the MAC to nfl. Fewer go from 3rd string SEC.

So I feel like transfers will be there. Not being an idiot and understanding who would fit best? Not something I think hammock will do well.

Absolutely now. Twitter in the next 7 days will show who has made decisions. Anyone on our team who will go P5 has already been approached. The D2 guys are announcing now who has offered them.

First portal window opens Dec 5th and closes Jan 18, next window is 15 days in May.

I'd be fine if a lot transfer. We need a bunch of available scholarships so we can go recruit the transfer portal. Hammock needs to stop worrying about HS recruits. We have a lot of weaknesses to fix and 2023 HS players aren't going to fix that.

The transfer portal is only way to improve quickly. Very few incoming freshman play immediately and those that do, might enter portal for greener pastures. We had 4? Transfer portal players who played significant amount this year. I think it will be a trend. Your top two young players will want to move up and you will go after the P5 players that have 2 years left to play. It is the future.

Sounds like Antario Brown is staying, for at least now. There's still nearly 9 months until start of 2023 season so he could always change his mind.

I can't imagine his options are all that great (at the FBS level). He's already a primary starter on his team so playing time isn't an issue that would be gained by moving down or laterally.

But coming off an up and down season where he was injured for major chunks of it is no time to transfer. It's a sell low move. If he wants to move on, he better be healthy next year and knock it out of the park, so to speak. Then get your P5 transfer in to a program that will finish in the middle to bottom part of its conference standings and regret it later.

Since we all know who I'm talking about, Ducker did absolutely nothing to improve his draft status this year and unless Henigan transfers, he'll be playing second fiddle to his QB for the remainder of his time at Memphis.

The grass isn't always greener.

Probably going to transfer to SIU to play with his old HS teammate (kind of...) Javon Williams.

I am hoping we get a dozen portal transfers. Not many studs on this team. Oline an RB only solid positions

Slow your role on that O-line talk. Losing your best Linemen/Left Tackle in Cox makes this slightly above average O-line probably average. Those boys need to hit the weight room(or the pharmacy). They looked more like street sweepers than road graders. Little less finesse and more power is needed.

Lets not forget about Kellman. Credle kinda stole the limelight of this years class but Kellman was almost as highly rated and had 4 P5 offers. Still plenty of talent in that RB room

I'm betting the emergence of Credle and not being able to gain any traction in playing time over two years made his decision for him.

I kind of thought he'd transfer last year being the 4th guy in line behind Ducker, Brown and Waylee. It's possible the Ducker transfer influenced him to stick around but he barely saw the field outside of the EIU game and was rather unimpressive when he was out there so might as well go elsewhere if playing time is what you desire.

I predict he'll transfer to FCS.

RB is kind of a fungible position anyway. We often look to who did it last year as the obvious guy to lead the next year but all too often, a guy comes in due to an injury and steals the show.

Lots of it comes down to blocking as a porous O-Line can make even the best running backs not named Barry Sanders look pedestrian. But, as is, we have a lot of guys who have gotten time and guys like Credle often looked pretty decent while guys like Blakemore could never gain any traction. Who knows who the main guy will be next year. The goal should always be to have a lot of runningbacks as someone will always break out.

Waylee and Brown are legit, really good RBs. But honestly Im still looking for that next superstar. And you're right, you just keep cycling guys threw that position as any decent back will produce with a good line in front of him. Then if you get really lucky one of those guys goes crazy and becomes your next stud.

RE: Guys hanging it up per Akron game notes
There are already quite a bit of coaches fired, resigned or changing jobs. Will be A LOT of players looking at other options. Just today Texas state, Stanford, Tulsa and now Cincinnati. Wisconsin might lose quite a bit of players due to more change in the staff.

I think STF and TH releasing that statement shows that they know changes need to be made with both the staff and scheme. STF is giving him a vote of confidence publicly I think can only help, but is also standing behind him if he fires a couple of the coaches. I’d rather have them say something instead of nothing at this point.

I haven’t seen Rudolph on the sideline recently. Can anyone confirm he’s been there? Was growing concerned about his intentions for next season.
