Almost got to the century mark in scoring.

Definitely a much needed win to get the confidence going in right direction.

I will feel good if Huskies win five of the next ten. Losses to GA Tech, Sam Houston,
N Iowa, Gonzaga and VCU.

South Dakota is typically pretty decent and tough so we're probably better off playing LIU in that game.

From now to Christmas, we are on the road. We *might* be able to beat EIU and/or Idaho, but the rest are legit midmajor teams or even P5 teams that should cruise. Very tough stretch with a lot of travel in there. I like the aggressive scheduling though, even if we aren’t good.

RE: mbb hosting Purdue NW
I have been mildly impressed with the new guys fitting in. Yes, last nights game was against Purdue NW.

Nutter (NW & PNW) 13.5pts, 7.5 rebs, 3 T/O
Amos (NW & PNW) 4.5 pts, 4.5 rebs, 1 T/O
Youngblood (PNW) 7 pts, nice assist but 3 TO
Pintauskas (PNW) 5 pts, 1 T/O

Hopefully by MAC they will fit in nicely.

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nutter has looked really good the two games he played. Amos has looked decent for a freshman in his small doses. Just need Durosinmi, Crump, or Ibarguen to provide rebounding and a presence inside defensively but not sure that will happen.

Looks like Thornton's minutes are also starting to go to Russell which I think is a positive.

Nutter's got some work to do to be an effective D1 player but he definitely has the skills and attributes to pull it off. He just has to commit to it and his reaction to those traveling calls tells me he's learning that this league is much more demanding than JUCO.

He's also the kind of guy that I think will benefit from a coach like Burno in many ways as Burno comes off as a life coach kind of guy who commits himself to his guys in all aspects of their lives. Nutter had some issues in the past but young guys from many walks of life make really dumb choices at times and it shouldn't define who they are. I think Nutter is going to be a great find for Burno.

Btw, same with Coit. Burno actually had a third guy who bailed on him at the last minute (Yazid Powell who went to Buffalo after signing an LOI with NIU). Just getting Coit and Nutter was big for this team in it's need for scorers. Had he been able to keep Powell in the mix as well, this team would have had 4 legit scorers they could put on the floor at any time.

It still might but that 4th scorer still needs to develop. It very well could be Amos. But it could also be Niederhäuser but that kid needs to get healthy or eligible or whatever and on the floor to develop.

I also want to point out that Zion Russell has looked good in the early parts of the year (he also looked good last year as a freshman). IMO, he's fully moved past Thornton on the depth chart.

I agree with your analysis completely. I am hoping we see Yanic Konan Niederhauser play after he gets out of the boot and see if he is better at rebounding/post defense than Duro (we see the reason why he did not play at St. Bon), Crump (I am starting to hate him again after kinda of liking him last year) and Ibarguen (very raw but I think he will be fine after a few years but not this year). If Yanic is not ready yet this season is going to tough. The backcourt and wing players are decent but we need something down low to win more than two or three games this year. I was hoping Amos was a bit more tougher but he seems to be more a mix between small and power forward with good skills. From the video I believe Yanic has good basketball skills but the question is he ready for college basketball this year. With Amos and him I think we will be fine over the next few years.

Amos reminds me a lot of Levi Bradley but there is a chance he'll put on weight/muscle but I agree, his game is not physical but he could be a mismatch kind of guy with his height.

Levi Bradley and Jaylen Key we’re both better than Amos as freshman. It’s early so will see what happens. Bradley was a very good player

Ok...

I never said he was better than either of those guys. But I said...or meant to imply...was his game was much more like Bradley's who was not an inside power player.

Either way. The kid has played exactly 2 games...

That’s why I said it’s early will see what happens but he doesn’t resemble Bradley at all. Amos looks much bigger girth wise than Bradley. Size wise he’s more Jaylen Key.

Ok.

You're right. I am wrong.

Just to be clear....

Levi Bradley - 6'7" - 210
Xavier Amos - 6'8" - 207
Jaylen Key - 6'8" - 230

Again. You are correct.
