2022 Football Week 10 @ BGSU
A Wednesday night matchup so thrilling they aren’t even showing it on any of the ESPN channels, opting instead for CBS Sports Net. Somehow I saw we’re favored by 4 points on the road against a team with a better record. We need to win out to save a .500 season, we’ll see what sort of heart we play with.

I’m not worried about how much heart we play with. I am deeply worried about how many first string receivers we play with. If we have both, I think the game will take care of itself. If we don’t have Cephus and Walker, no amount of heart is going to help.

False in my opinion. Same boat as 2019 and had a bunch of 5' 9/10'' receivers that played with heart. They can do it again!

Next man up mentality, shows how much heart the depth players have. Teams always have guys buried, forgotten about and just looking for an opportunity to shine. Now is that time.

Well, it seemed to me that in the last game, they weren’t lacking “heart”, just the ability and /or experience to catch the kind of throws that Cephus and Walker routinely do. I don’t question the subs passion or desire to succeed. I just hope our best talent is on the field or we may have similar results against a team that’s been playing pretty well.

Injuries are a factor at all levels, but for a mid-major they are a HUGH factor.

I want to believe we can revive what happened in 2019 when we were in this spot but there are some key differences. The big one being those 5'9" and 5'10" WRs we were winning with weren't forced into action because of injuries. They were the starters because they won the jobs. That year had a feel of us being short handed because our starting RB and QB at the beginning of the year were out. The QB was out because he lost his job to the backup who turned out to be better. The RB was gone because he was unhappy with his role in the offense because his backups (Matthews and Williams) had earned roles taking carries from him.

The current situation is not guys forcing their way into playing time, it's injuries forcing them into playing time.

Been posted many times on this board, our former AD gave no thought to the physical punishment that 3 money games placed on the team.
Realize we are deep into the MAC schedule but a lingering injury stays with you the entire season.

We are not winning out and therefore, it's pretty realistic to say this season is over. And anyone blaming the non-conference games is missing the mark. We had a lesser QB this season. I like Schlee, but it's not unfair to say he isn't as polished as Crum was. We have a defense that still basically can't stop a nose-bleed. And we just had less depth than in the past. The injuries we have suffered aren't more than usual, we just don't have quality players to back them up (and if we do, those guys just weren't ready and/or didn't step up).

I agree the games early in the season didn't cause injuries in November. However, it would still be nice to have a better record heading into the last month. Now every games is must win. Although this is how it was in 2019.

This is a message board to which people are entitled to their opinion. To say early games in the season didnt cause injuries in November may be correct for some players but not all. When you play football you play hurt, which leads you "sometimes" to put stress on a body part in an unnatural way resulting in injuries. The money games and the impact on the body basic physic -larger and faster object striking the body.
For the defense you are missing starting DT, LBer and Safety, agree lack of depth showing up. I think in the age of the Transfer Portal quality depth will no longer be an option.

Did everyone just see how a 250lb back is better at 3rd and short situations.

Lets make that a habit

Would be nice if these announcers spoke to why they stopped the play there and moved the spot. He returned the KO to the 26, why did they re-spot to the 23?

Nice D so far, and is this announcer slow? They very clearly stuffed that run a yard short and the ref spotted it appropriately, and he’s acting like there’s a big suspenseful spot coming up when the ref is obviously a yard short of the marker.

Getting cute with the plays again, and there’s Schlee bailing out a yard short once again! 03-banghead

Someone explain to me why you would go for two there. Shouldn’t matter but if it happens to cost us the game what a silly call.
