Individually and as a group the E8 team stands alone in my mind. I think one can put together several collection of players that could compete with the E8, and perhaps even win a best of 5 or 7. But when it comes to a team with a COMPLETE collection of all parts needed for success, - offensively-defensively-individually-collectively -- including a top notch and deep bench, the E8 team truly stands alone.
E8?? You cost me 15 seconds of my life figuring out what that meant!!
Speak of which.... I highly recommend.

RE: Basketball Offseason
I'll have to read that book. I'd forgotten about Steve Sefner. There were so many play-by-play announcers over the years, such as Tracy Jackson, Don Ursetti, Hamilton (I forget his first name), Les Levine, Bill Needle...I've forgotten many. Of course, the Linders were more recently.

For those of us who followed the team closely that season it’ll bring back a ton of great memories. The stories Trevor tells are worth reading again and again.

RE: Basketball Offseason
I just got done reading it. Thank you Steve for the memories. couple thoughts:
- Laing Kennedy was one heck of an AD.
- The stories in that book reaffirmed that Andrew Mitchell was and will likely always be my favorite Golden Flash
- at various points i got goosebumps remembering those unbelievable memories.
- As Eric Haut pointed out teams like that just dont exist anymore today in the look at me social media, transfer portal world.
If you're a Flash Fan its a must read!

Didn't care to create a new thread and not going to take time to figure out how to post the picture, but Booman is blowing up overseas. Saw he is currently averaging 24ppg, 6.5 reb, 3.5 asst, and shooting 49% from 3.

Laing Kennedys influence is still felt today , all these years later.
Many of his hires are still coaching at Kent and he does not get enough credit for his personnel moves and hires.
He put Basketball on the map. Got a renovation of Dix Stadium done and
Was and still is a classy, modest and personable man.
Not enough has been done to honor him at Kent.
Akways liked the sound of Kennedy Court at the MAAC center

Definitely nice to see. It is only two games though. And it's 49% overall, 37.5% (3-8) from 3. Looks like he's still playing alongside Simons.

I didn't do any homework. Literally saw a picture posted online and copied the stats on here.

ON ANOTHER SUBJECT .....
Seems Kent had a 'secret' scrimmage Saturday with St. Bonaventure. While clearly no news of such on this site as of yet, a check on the Bonnies site says St. Bonaventure was 'competitive' against Kent State which indicates the Flashes got the better of this scrimmage.
Typically, these secret sessions are three or four 15-minute segments withe 1-on-1s having one round of all man defense and one round of all zone defense with one session of 2-on-2s and maybe one session with the deep bench players or a mix of 1s-and-2s.
In a format like this, with Kent's experienced backcourt, I'd be surprised if they weren't at the least 'competitive' against an A10 team. I'd be more interested to know how the baseline players performed. That will be key for KSU.
Anybody hear anything???

Haven't heard anything either. Also interesting that Robert Carpenter started at St Bonny. Probably going against coaches and players he knows well. Very fascinating to see what, if any role he plays on this team. Never going to see a D1 18 ppg guy show up on our roster with less fanfare than this guy.

Was he the one Senderoff was talking up in a Moff column a couple of weeks ago, or was that Payton? I can't keep up with the players anymore. Too many changes each year.

If it was that's news to me. I haven't seen any mention of him in articles.

I looked it up. It was Payton Senderoff praised.

RE: Basketball Offseason
Here's the highlights of Carpenter's 27 point game at Ole Miss last year. Since he's such a mystery I don't know if we should expect him to be sitting out a year to get grades in order or something. But if he's part of the rotation he seems pretty similar to Thomas. I could see us running some 3 big lineups with him Thomas and Payton basically playing positionless basketball. I could also see us playing two of those with a more true center. Of course, it's not going to be easy to find time for a 3 big lineup with the crowded backcourt.

True, expect Santiago, Carry and Jacobs to all get major minutes. And, it would appear, Payton will play a lot. Don't forget Sullinger and Davis and, maybe, Odusipe, Hornbeak isn't all the way back yet from injury. Carpenter is a real mystery. Note that he played at two different high schools and KSU is his fourth college. Should be interesting.

Sometimes those guys that bounce around like that realize when a opportunity is going to be their last best shot, and really buy in. Other times they ride the pine then ruin the championship game with Snapchat videos.
