RE: Toledo game! Who's going?
Me! I'll be tailgating in the Northwest corner of the VIP Lot (the main convocation center lot). I'll have my black Explorer there with a gray popup tent set up behind it. Come on by and have a beer or a shot (or two). There is a group of O-Line families that hook up in a line of tailgating there...it's our regular location for home games.

Dansplaining stopped by a few weeks ago with a mutual friend. It was nice meeting him...would be nice to meet a few more on this board.

For those who are more into betting than I, is there a line on whether or not Splaining makes it to halftime? I would bet the under on that…

Can’t make it myself due to my son’s Boy Scout obligation. Otherwise, I would definitely go- this is a big game one. But hope you all have fun! …Go EMU!!

I was up for homecoming, but for some reason no one wanted to see me. : )

I sat by super but didn’t want to interrupt his viewing. He was very into the game.

Technically three hours before game time. I usually get there about 4 hours ahead of game time and there are people already set up in both the free lot and the VIP lot.

Toledo game! Who's going?
The Athletic Dept needs to do whatever is necessary to get students to the game.

I agree! I get that most students at G5 schools care more about a football program from a P5 conference than their own school's program, but other similar schools are able to get big crowds now and then when there is a big game. I know there is the commuter aspect to EMU, but there are still a lot of students living on and around campus that if you could get them to come would make for a great crowd.

The other thing is that obviously most students at EMU are going to also be either UofM or MSU fans, and since they obviously play each other this weekend and not until 7:30 there is no reason to not be at noon game! It'll be over in plenty of time to not miss any of that game, the worry would be if that they want to go to Ann Arbor (too bad it's not in East Lansing this year) to tailgate.

I don't know what exactly the university could do, but hopefully they are promoting it big time, promote tailgating areas, give-a-ways, etc...

RE: Toledo game! Who's going?
Dear Friends,
Years ago the university gave away (I believe tuition related money) to attract students to games. Now that I think about it, I don't know why they can't have some other kind of monetary reward to give away to students.

I'm a senior, so I can say from the student perspective that the promotion has been...average. I've gotten a few emails about the game and there are some tent cards promoting it in the student center. The student giveaway this week is rally towels which sounds kinda cool at least. I'm only on campus two days a week so it's possible I've missed a few things, but the promotion for this week doesn't seem too much different than most other weeks.

I agree with everything you said though. When I started going here, I was a UofM fan all the way. I honestly didn't think I'd care much about EMU football. Seeing classmates on the field and having pride in my school changed that though. I love following this team and going to the home games, I've been to all of them this year.

Overall, I'm glad it's a noon start and that we'll mostly avoid UofM vs MSU. I'm really excited about this week, it would be amazing if we can pull off a good-looking win at home. Hopefully we'll see some more students there this week. The weather doesn't look to be too bad given the time of year.

Thank you very much! I haven't posted a lot this year but I've been following these threads since the start of the season. It's helped me learn a lot about the team and it's nice to see others who have the same passion for it as I do. Sadly I don't know many others who follow the team, but I'll do my best :)

Wanted to add to this since there are a few more promotions they're doing that I just discovered from an email to Eagle Nation. There will be a costume contest in the student section where the best costume will receive a free 50" TV. They also mention they're giving away items to 100 random students throughout the game, including one grand prize winner. No information on what the prizes are. Also, the previously mentioned rally towels are white and they'll be given to the first 1,000 students.

Looks like the events this week are fall oriented. They mention pumpkin painting, along with Fall and Halloween-themed photo stations.

Glad to see they're doing more to get students out this weekend. Sounds like it'll be a fun time if they take advantage of it.
