If true, I'm less than overwhelmed. Kennesaw would be a good geographic fit and a reasonable driving distance for me to the my Toppers play. That's my full list of positives; can't really think of any others right now.

Hopefully gets pushed BACK to 2025. That would be a small victory at least.

Why?

The longer is better because we are already transitioning TWO fcs teams next year. This weakens the conf. FB rating and more. Also allows current teams to divide the small pie by fewer pieces a little longer. We don't want to be the BOTTOM G5 conference. Adding too many fcs or too many at once is a killer. This is not a social club where we help everyone to the table. It is a competitive sports world.

My counter to that would be that CUSA announces for 24, they play 23 in the ASUN their first year of transition and only one transition year in CUSA like Jax St and Sam Houston are doing. Or is the thought they play web oth transition years in the ASUN where the FCS schools have to deal with a team with a full FBS scholarship compliment?

The longer it can be delayed the better. Permanently would be ideal.

My thinking also-- but we are fighting a losing battle. Maybe the state of Georgia slows 'em down a bit--- governments are known for their slowness.

This is going to be difficult for KSU. Congrats nonetheless. They just started their football program in the late 2000s.

CUSA should have added NDSU for football only. The Bison would have been a much better choice than Kennesaw State.

CUSA has a history of adding new or almost new programs. Charlotte, UTSA were new and ODU was pretty young too.

NDSU would have to want that; do you think they want it? Would contend that they are waiting for right landing spot

Pretty sure NDSU said thanks but no thanks. They have eyes on a bigger prize than the red headed step-child of FBS (aka CUSA).

Matt Brown said as much about SFA on Twitter when the KSU news broke. Said he would bey VERY surprised if SFA moves up unless the WAC and ASUN completely dissolve. Which we could be leading too if EKU and Tarleton get added (please don't add Tarleton they add nothing except A&M money, but then again SFA is eying to join a U system and A&M is on the list)

In fairness, for most of those, CUSA does not want them either because of geography.

True. It looks like they are still committed to the idea of the high level FCS conference in the revived WAC when they left the Southland with the rest of the Texas 4. It made sense at the time, but following C-USA poaching SHSU and NMSU, along with Lamar and UIW moving back to the Southland, the WAC and ASUN are now on shaky ground.

Assuming SFA can find a system and officially be stabilized on that front, joining a reinforced C-USA might make more sense to take matters into their own hands and join C-USA before the WAC/A-Sun potentially collapse and may be relegated to the Southland. Joining C-USA would also ensure a decent home for its basketball teams and keep the "Piney Woods" rivalry alive.

Especially if C-USA adds enough teams to consolidate into 2 geographically regionalized divisions of 6-7 teams that operated quasi-independent of each other for scheduling purposes with just common conference tournaments/championship games.
