Yup heard rumors earlier. Huge hit to the prospects for the season. OL was thin to begin with.

Not sure you could pick a worse player to lose on the entire roster.

Yep. And this is why the team's overall good health and stunning success in '21 is such a rare commodity and must be treasured.

I'm very optimistic about the season and our coaches' and players' performances but lots of guys will really have to step up to win another conference title and more.

I guess we'll find out, but I think this is probably the deepest we've been on the OL in a long time. The emergence of Huber seems a bit like found money. Not that losing Renfro doesn't suck.

I'm guessing this means Gerhardt becomes Center 1 and Cooper or Metz (both with solid starting experience) takes over at LG although they might shuffle a few guys around for all I know.

Yeah Gerhardt moves to center. IF everyone recalls Vinnie McConnell started several games last year while Jake was out with a hip injury.

The guard position could be more of a question this season IMHO.

Gerhardt had a number of low snaps yesterday against Arkansas. Reminded me of the same low snap problem we often saw from Jakari Robinson to Desmond Ridder a couple of years ago that led in part to Renfro replacing Robinson as the starter. Des was too often picking up low snaps at his shoe tops or off the ground.

Yep. I commented on that in the game thread yesterday. Hopefully, it's more a question of honing/consistency with the snap technique since Gerhardt is fairly new to the position. It seemed like as the game wore on I noticed more low snaps. May also have been a function of grip/wrist/arm fatigue if you're not used to doing that frequently.

It would have been nice if Jakari had not transferred to BG.

He got passed up on Memphis' depth chart too. He transferred again this past offseason to use his 9th year of eligibility at BG.
