As tired as I am of hearing about these drawn out B1G tier-2 rights deal. It means no one is really paying much attention to the PAC negotiation. The more numbers the Big12 can bring to the PAC vs Big12 fight the better.

I'm surprised NBC is offering guaranteed Primetime for these tier-2 rights. FOX already has a primetime game with its tier-1 rights. So its already an inferior product within the conference. It would be like watching Ohio State game on FOX, Michigan State on FS1 and Rutgers game on NBC.

Meh, if you say so? People watch BIG football because of the brands. TV numbers are always really solid and it's hilarious how National Titles are all people think of on here. Hell, the Dallas Cowboys haven't won a Super Bowl in what, 26 years? Yet they draw eyeballs to the TV.

National Titles are great, the SEC has a bunch! Don't give a damn! Still going to watch tOSU and all the BIG Ten west schools, minus Minnesota.

The PAC is "fractured", the Big XII has always been doomed and the ACC will be next.

Maybe in the Midwest. No one in Texas cares. I'd imagine a lot of the country feels that way. People watch the Cowboys because they either love them or absolutely hate them.

more likely Fox, NBC, CBS split the #1-2-3 games in some kind of rotation. NBC and CBS are either in for OSU-Micjigan money or they're better off showing ice skating or esports or The Bachelor

not gonna pay network TV money to be #3-4 every week in cfb in that timeslot. be no 1 with some other demo for cheaper

This is a misunderstanding of how the Big Ten rights have worked (at least up until now). They don't give FOX the #1 game every week in the way that the SEC did with CBS.

Instead, FOX gets the Big Ten Championship Game and the #1 pick of the specific week of the season where it gets the first choice game. (This has always been rivalry week, which allows them to get Ohio State-Michigan.) ABC/ESPN then gets the next peek of the specific week of the season where it gets the first choice game and the networks continue alternating picks until all weeks are chosen. (See how ABC has Ohio State-Notre Dame for this upcoming season. They clearly picked Labor Day weekend with their #2 pick.)

That has made the Big Ten packages (at least how they've worked up until now) much more equal. FOX was paying a little bit more than ESPN, but that difference was entirely for the Big Ten Championship Game and then the #1 draft choice for a specific week. It's NOT "FOX gets the #1 games and ABC/ESPN gets the #2 games" like it had been with the SEC. Also, BTN never gets the first choice game in any particular week, but does get the second choice game once or twice a year. So, even the lower tier package ends up with some high level games every season. I'd expect that to continue to be the case for whoever ends up with the Big Ten rights.

The new-look Big Ten is one of only two conferences (duh) that can make this work thanks to depth of inventory. Think more like this:

Fox big noon: Ohio State
3:30 TV tbd: Michigan
NBC prime time: USC
(forgot about that last one, didn't you?)

That still leaves Penn State, Michigan State, Iowa, Nebraska, and Wisconsin (when they're not playing one of the 3 above).

Yep. FOX/ABC/NBC trade off OSU/UM/USC throughout the season. Whichever of PSU/UCLA/MSU/UW/Iowa/Nebraska aren't playing those 3 teams end up on either the ABC 11am slot or ESPN or FOX afternoon. The rest end up on ESPN2/FS1/BTN.

What would Fox think about alternating 1/2/3 picks with both CBS and NBC as opposed to just alternating 1/2 with one media partner?

Let's just not assume NBC is getting the deal because I still think it's more likely that ABC/ESPN retains a package (even if it's a reduced one compared to now) than for NBC to get it.

However, if there are 3 primary media partners (whoever they might be), it probably would be that type of alternating scenario. Whatever FOX thinks of it would be reflected in their checkbook and what they're paying.
