thats how it was under Coach Fuente.
Worked pretty well...defensive lines started to wear down.

07-coffee3 I don't know anything about Jay Ducker but I read that he was a good running back but lacked speed. Did you see him in action at any time ?

I believe Ducker gained all those yards in 8 games.

Young? I mean... Yeah, but he's got a whole year under his belt. We ARE talking about Seth Hennagan, or did I miss something???

I'm gonna go out on a limb here...and say Jayvon Ducker. Kid had a helluva 8? game stretch for Northern Illinois last season. Imagine what he mighta done had he started every game last year.

Why did he not? Injury?

He was a freshman so he didn't get a chance the first few games.

he was like 3rd on the RB depth chart.
When he was pressed into service as a starter it took awhile for him to get going, and then a switch flipped.
from another thread I posted on

In his first 6 games
vs Georgia Tech DNP
vs Wyoming 1 carry, 2 yards
vs Michigan 7 carries, 28 yards
vs Maine 5 carries, 5 yards
vs Eastern Michigan DNP
vs Toledo 11 carries, 50 yards
Last 6 games plus conf championship and bowl game
vs Bowling Green 33 carries, 210 yards
vs Central Michigan 21 carries, 183 yards
vs Kent State, 19 carries 101 yards
vs Ball State 24 carries, 155 yards
vs Buffalo Bulls 24 carries, 155 yards
vs Western Michigan 13 carries, 104 yards
vs Kent State MAC Champ 29 carries 146 yards
vs Coastal Carolina Bowl game 21 carries, 146 yards

Yes. He lost two elite targets in Calvin Austin III and Sean Dykes.

Crams said Coffey is a guy to keep an eye on. “He’s a piece you can move around, he’s a guy you can give the ball in space and he’s a little more electric than some of the guys in that room.”

RE: Leading Rusher
Coffey is the fastest guy on the team and will start at the slot position. B. Thomas will start at RB and if our OL can push back and make some holes, he will have a 100 yr rushing game against State.

Our Defense will substantially be better this year because of a very aggressive Coach Matt Barnes. We will be playing a 4 3 and doing a lot of blitz's!

Looking at the highlights, I would love that offensive line or even the line coach. Kid has a nice burst but doesn't have the next gear speed that Kenny G, D Henderson had or the Tony Pollard elusiveness. Looks like a solid addition though.

nice change of pace back. Defense gets used to going after a speedy back...you put in a bruiser to mow em down, and gas em a bit.
Then re-insert the speedy back.
Rinse, repeat

he aint slow...slow...
His best 40 yard dash times are 4.46 and 4.56.
So he isn't Calvin Austin level fast...but he aint cole slaw either.
