RE: Report: Big 12 and PAC 12 won’t partner; talks end
Big10 commissioner has more team in mind besides Notre Dame. Possibly raiding more PAC12 schools
INDIANAPOLIS — Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren told Action Network there are “a handful of schools” besides Notre Dame that would add value as future Big Ten members.
The schools being considered by the Big Ten, sources told Action Network, are Notre Dame, Oregon, Washington, Stanford, Cal, Miami and Florida State. Warren would not comment on specific schools as potential members.
As far as a timetable and number of teams the Big Ten will add, that is unknown.
“It could be two months to two years,” another source said. “There could be an odd number, and there are not any specific number of teams.”
In his opening statement to the media Tuesday, Warren was not shy about the Big Ten’s future plans.
“Regarding expansion, I get asked every single day, ‘What’s next?’” Warren said. “It may include future expansion, but it will be done for the right reasons at the right time with our student-athletes, academic and athletic empowerment at the center of any and all decisions that we will make regarding any further expansions.
One Big Ten coach has an idea of how those things will settle.
“We know how this ends,” the coach said. “Twenty or more teams in the Big Ten, 20 or more teams in the SEC. One televised on Fox. One on ESPN. Just like the NFL. And then you have your Big Ten-SEC playoff for college’s Super Bowl.
“Then the six-win teams will play in a Tampa bowl, the seven-win teams will play in Orlando. That’s where we’re headed.”

I could see that being a beneficial set up for us. The question would be regular season scheduling. Do SEC teams only play conference games and Big 10 teams only play conference games?

Have heard 2-3 ESPN college radio shows lately where it was predicted the P-5 big payout games will soon be a thing of the past once the SEC & B1G begin play with expanded conference numbers & that their normal FCS games are likely to end or pay much less if scheduled because there will be enough chumps in-conference to get the wins they need.

I agree but the people driving everyone towards that outcome either don’t seem to care or think football is football and people will watch no matter what

Quality of play in NCAA is not that of NFL. One has to wonder if they'll end up with a USFL product, once they crush the current drivers - pageantry, tradition, students, etc.

Sounds like the Big Ten is getting ready to kill the Pac-12 with the big 12 coming in to pick the bones.

That probably is the model, and it is incredibly stupid.
NFL
- 32 teams
- Teams in every single major US city
- 44% of teams make the playoffs
- 65% not mathematically eliminated with at least 2 games left in the season
NCAA
- 129 teams
- 12% will make a 16 team playoff
- Probably 100 teams eliminated with 2 games left in the season
- Probably 75 teams eliminated after 6 games
Major cities without a team, or with a bad team with no chance.
- Boston
- New York
- Chicago
- Phoenix
- Denver
Then consider that you have teams in places that nobody else in the country gives a **** about, like Mississippi (2), Nebraska, Arkansas, Indiana (2) and Alabama (2).
It will be a mess.

Insane. $1.5B spread amongst 16 teams. Insane.
Maybe they'll even give a couple thousand bucks to the chemistry department.

If Big10 can get $1.5B, surely the SEC can get $2B.

Nope. More TVs and better demographic in the B1G. That is the difference.
