They are worse off than the Big 12 was past year without nearly the options. Also, schools aren't going to care about politics like Democrat or Republican, only wacked out and deranged fans feel that way.

When UT and OU left the Big XII lost all its bargaining power.

They have very little to offer other P5 schools.

They only have access to just 2 top 20 TV markets and don't control either of them.

The Texas TV market has been the Big XII only bargaining tool and that has been taken over by the SEC.

Other than P5 status they have nothing to offer.

Even the AAC has a larger TV market.

The new AAC has 2 teams in the Dallas/FtWorth metroplex, one in Houston, one in Philadelphia, one in DC metroplex, one in Miami metroplex and one in Tampa/StPete.

That's 6 of the top 20 TV markets in the US.

Jeez dude, you’re not getting it. The PAC is severely weakened now, losing their 2 biggest draws (the same as the B12). However, the next 2 best programs (Oregon and Washington) are begging to get out. Neither of these 2 programs are that valuable to the B1G now, but with Nike on your side, it’s possible. If Oregon and Washington leave, the PAC will be a group of low draw schools.

The B12 is pretty unified now. Not by desire, but really no one else wants these programs. Their TV contract will be significantly better than a very unstable PAC. Let’s see how the numbers pan out.

Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and ASU has reached out to the B12. No way they would have been remotely interested a month ago, but times have changed. They know the two biggest draws will leave in a heartbeat and they don’t want to get stuck with the rest of that group. It’s each man for himself.

But by your measure, the AAC should get a better TV contract than the B12. That’s laughable. Our TV contact will be awful now. We lost 3 of our best programs and filled them with garbage heap trash. We desperately need to get out of this conference as it stands. It’s just terrible.

Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and ASU were being proactive when rumors were flying that Oregon and UW were the next targets of of the B10. Now that everyone is standing pat, for the moment, these schools realize that the new look PAC is better than the new look B12. The remaining collective PAC 10 schools are heads and shoulders above the remaining collective B12 schools when it comes to brand and media value.

No one is standing pat, except for those currently in the SEC or B1G. Everyone else, including us, are trying to work themselves into a better situation. Everyone knows that the two new headliners in the PAC are desperately trying to move to the B1G. Obviously the B1G didn’t think either school brought enough to the table to add them, but with Nike on their side, anythings possible with Oregon.

If the remaining schools were actually unified, I’d agree with you. But they’re not and everyone is looking for the best conference available. The PAC (without USC and UCLA) is not a real power conference. And it certainly won’t be without Oregon and Washington.

Their media deal will not be near what they expected a month ago. The loss of the LA schools and their instability will hurt them badly.

Cincinnati is one of the top research universities in the country and it would place them mid-tier in the AAU and it is one of the upper tier in health and medical and Cincinnati has been listed as a legitimate AAU candidate. Houston the same thing. Obviously you have Iowa State (former AAU but still elite academics) and Kansas but if the Big 12 expands and adds the Four Corners they would add 3 AAU schools and Arizona State is similar to Cincinnati in that they are a legitimate AAU candidate. So that's 4 AAU schools, 1 former AAU school and 3 legitimate AAU candidates. That's not even counting thr private schools and R1 universities. So yes, the Big 12 could be a Top 3 academic conference.

Now that’s laughable!

The Big XII without UT and OU is also no longer a P5 conference. At least the PAC still have top 20 TV markets something that the Big XII doesn't have. Big XII is not currently united. KU has openly been flirting with B1G.

The B12 is currently unified because no one better wants any of their programs. Kansas is flirting with the B1G, the only problem is that they are not at all interested. Oregon and Washington are much more appealing and are hoping for B1G membership. While the B1G waits for ND, these programs may be the next best available.

Even though you don’t like the B12, they will get a better media deal than the very fragile PAC.

RE: PAC 10
Probably time to start hoping the ACC loses some teams and there’s enough left to join that would be an upgrade over our impending league. Say the Big 10 takes Oregon, Washington, UNC and UVA to get to 20. The SEC takes Clemson, the Criminoles, the U, and either NC State or VT, then maybe hope for something like:

Louisville
Pitt
Syracuse
Wake
BC
Duke
VT/ NC State
GA Tech
Memphis
USF

Start with those 10 and then maybe add 2,4,6

Obviously not a power conf in football, but would make for some pretty damn good hoops.

That'd definitely be a sweet bball conference. My question is why wouldn't the ACC leftovers just stand pat in an 8 team conference? Didn't they do away with the number of teams requirement to have a conference champ game? I guess I'm assuming UM/USF wouldn't add a sizeable increase in TV deal too. Hopefully, I'm wrong because that would legit be an insane bball conference!
