RE: CFN--College football news top 11 group of 5 expansion candidates
I still think if the bigxii takes two teams from g5 they will be USF and probably Colorado st. Memphis has never ever ever ever been on their list for expansion.

Stadium Size: Liberty Bowl, 58,325
Pros: Decent media market. Tier 1 school. Hotbed area for football. Good hoops.
Cons: Media market isn’t that great. Academic rankings just okay. Decent enrollment but not giant.
Best Power Five Fit: Big 12
Bottom Line: This should soon be an easy call for the Big 12. It fits right in with the city football schools from the AAC like Cincinnati and Houston, and it’s in easy range of Oklahoma and Texas.
Can someone explain...."Media Market is not that great". I am assuming it means that the reach of our market fan base is limited to the Memphis area and thus we do not cast a big net in terms of geographic coverage/popularity.
Exactly, clearly we are no East Carolina. Easily the most idiotic article I've seen yet.
I know this guy is a bit of a quack but he is passionate. He thinks we get in the ACC. He gives his opinion on ECU as well which echos what you're saying. Memphis mention at about the 5:34 mark.

I find it very suspect.

Yeah, have to wonder if that’s “active” or “tracked” or something like that. There has to be more out there - they just don’t do anything the university can track them by.

Correct. This is why Tammy Hedges at the UofM has been trying to “grow” the “tracked” alumni base. In my opinion, they have not really created a reason why to sign up.

It’s a BS article but USF has a huge enrollment & is in a very big media market. Travel partner with UCF is another positive wrt B12. They’d probably already be in the B12 is their football hadnt been so bad lately.
Being listed behind ECU, UNLV, and ColoSt is insane. Just an opinion piece.

At least 2 of those 3 have a history of investing in their programs (should be read their facilities). We play MBB & FB in rented municipal facilities indicating no investment. All we've done is announce a plan to renovate those rented municipal facilities with no fund raising plans announced, no progress of that fund raising has been communicated, no indication of if or how the facility will be controlled or managed once we invest $200M, yet when asked directly through phone calls & letter I gets no response - none.

I understand your concerns. Hopefully, it is a real effort. If the UofM puts $200M into the stadium, they should take ownership, or at least get a controlling interest in the stadium. Of ciurse, additional responsibilities come with that, but it also opens additional revenue streams & control of gameday support.

This guy said ND and WVU was 100% guaranteed lock to the ACC last year too. He's more than a just a quack.

I said the same thing back before they invited Houston, Cinncinnati, UCF, and BYU; and got the same response from the irrational. I would hate to have so much of my self esteem invested in what the bigxii does, or in having a tinkertoy stadium on campus.
