I know their already was a huge gap between the P5 teams and The Group of Fives but NIL and the new transfers rules are the end of us. Enjoy these next couple years of Huskie Football. Unfortunately, the divide in FBS football just got A LOT bigger with NIL. It's a matter of time before the Big Dogs and the little dogs are separated.

I don’t necessarily believe that. It’s the wicky wild Wild West right now for college football. Let’s see what happens when a 9 million dollar recruit loses a couple games. Or that same recruit is forced to transfer to a G5 school because of a underwhelming performance. This kind of recruiting has already been going on for years, we are just seeing it without college football blinders.

Ohio State AD said his collective needed 3 million for a QB. The price of QBs just went up.

What a waste of money. Paying someone that kind of money who hasn't proved anything in college yet.

Exactly! Rocky had to win a MACC before he got the lucrative sandwich deal at Fattys.

Kind of funny when you get paid 7 million( Cap Hit) to prove yourself as an NFL player when you are drafted number 1.

How is it a waste?

It's supposedly a private sector entity investing in a "student athlete," right? They have the money and want to win.

This is all going to blow up.

Tell me how a NIL entity can promise $ to a kid based on where he goes? Specifically one attached to a single school? Throw on top of it one attached to donors?

This is exactly what Saban was saying. Right now there is ZERO policing because no one cares because there really is no rules. NCAA doesn't care since they washed there hands of it due to lawsuits. School leaders in "academia" and leadership don't care since it costs the school nothing. The people on the side of the students don't care, unless a student gets grabbed from their school.

I just want to know how a kid can be promised "x" amount to go to a school when these entities are supposed to be separate from schools? Yet the schools work with them once they attend? What happens when a kid leaves? What is the actual contract? There are countless issues that one can't even envision as of yet that will come up.

Nothing big, just some walking around $ for a tweet or two so they can ping their Big10 golf team buddies and say they got some NIL action as an NIU golfer. Just trying to be a good alumni.

What I'm being told now, after weeks of discussion, is that "there is no real direct way currently at NIU to easily contact a team/athlete and facilitate a quick and easy NIL deal." - YIKES.

My contact said it 60% a state of Illinois-law issue, but that NIU also has as of yet to get out of its own way on the issue. He said several Illinois schools including NIU were getting their butt kicked on the NIL issue, and other midwest P5 and G5 programs were way ahead on funneling $, even if small payments, to their athletes.

Shame on Illinois for sucking as usual, shame on Sean T. "new infield turf - yay" Frazier for not handling the issue better. My contact said a friend at Loyola athletics found a nice workaround vis-a-vis the state law and admin red tape, he is putting me in touch.

The state of Illinois, and especially the NIU athletics department, need to get the NIL pipeline smoothed out ASAP.

(if someone knows otherwise, please educate me, I'm going off of direct feedback from one NIU (knowledgeable) staffer.)

Were you able to make this happen?

Going to circle back in the fall and pull the trigger. I'll post here with feedback.

It won't be much, but happy to check off that NIL box for a few NIU golfers. Gotta keep up with the Jones'...
