I’ve pretty much been doing this for years.

An even better way to show them is to spend your dollar votes on the Memphis Tigers.

The fact that some of the current P5 members are about to be demoted has got to be sending a shockwave thru the college football world.

RE: Join the movement: Boycott the Power Conferences
There will a whole lot of upset fans of the roughly 2/3 of FBS schools that get left out of Tier 1.

Boycotts sound great but they rarely last long and almost never work. People will be mad for awhile then they move on with their lives. After the NFL fukked Memphis and gave Jacksonville the team we should have had I didn't watch for over 5 years. Eventually I did. Eventually most people will engage with whatever ESPN, FOX, CBS, Apple etc. Hype and broadcast....

It may not happen all at once and it won't be immediate. There will certainly be 2-3 more years of the current system but all the realignment deals will get announced. Everyone will know who's in and who's out.

The FBS left outs will be dealing with being 2nd class. How much attention do any of us pay to FCS and its 16 team playoff? Not very much.

AAA Redbirds pack the stands every night? You guys watch a lot of USFL? Who's your favorite D League team? You get the idea....

I think Herbstreit has it right: The money gap will be so big that Tier 2 will never ever get a kid that Tier 1 wants. From facilities to NIL $$$$ it won't be apples to oranges, it'll be Florida fresh Harry & David's vs. a dried up half eaten core laying by the side of the road.

I guess we will have wait and see how it all plays out but it looks really, really grim and if Memphis gets left behind in football then why be 2nd or even 3rd class. Just focus on the sport that you can and historically have actually competed for the NC in - basketball.

As someone who follows only 2 teams, Memphis and GT, over the past few months, I have gone from pretty excited about the possibility of Memphis joining a P5, to very concerned that neither of my teams will be in a P5.

Gotta say it, I have zero interest in watching us play tier 3 football. If it comes to that I'm checked out of college football.

You will be for a few years but over time you will end up watching what ESPN, FOX, CBS, etc cover. It may take a few years but most of the mad fans will come back and after 10-15 years the kids that grow up won't remember how it used to be.

Remember the CUSA TV packages? Memphis will have something like that. The $$$$ will be bigger but relatively speaking compared to what Tier 1 will be getting it'll actually be worse.

I think it'll be more like the USFL.

If the P2 leaves the NCAA, I wonder how transfers will work.

Here is the deal, I'm not paying to watch us play in some watered down league with C-USA teams on Thursday nights. I'm not the only one I bet.

I think we'll be playing with some Vandy's and Miss States. The P5 (and ND) will need to reduce by 17 (current) teams to get to 48.

This is kind of ridiculous. If we were in, we’d be happy with the new landscape. Being left out sucks for sure…

Current members from the Big and SEC won't be left out, they need cannon fodder to beat up on.

Correct - there will be some PAC and ACC teams pump and dumped. It just all depends on how it all shakes out and what conferences, if any, outside of the SEC and the BIG10 get a slot in the expanded National Championship.

IF SEC and BIG10 go to 24 each and then break away then the left overs - even the ACC / PAC12 / BIG12 left overs will be just as left behind as anyone in the G5. All of them together will be relegated to the 2nd level playing for a 2nd class NC just like FCS does today.

At first, a lot of people will be upsetz and make a lot of angry social media posts - BUT - within a couple of years when they see that it's not going to change anything they will relax and watch the SEC and BIG10 play minor league professional football because that is what ESPN, FOX, CBS, Apple, etc are going to hype and show in prime time.

10-15 years from now the left behinds will be playing what we would today think of as FCS football.

The problem becomes getting people to games anymore. Its not like attendance is on some upswing. People are not going to pay to watch 2nd and 3rd tier football, not in large numbers anyway. I think its going to be hard to sustain football at many places.
