I f and it's a B1G if Kansas were to make a serious appeal to the B1G and be successful to join them, I can see maybe ISU going with Them. This can of worms could have WVU,Cincinnati make appeal to join the ACC which should have happened when Texas and Oklahoma announced for the SEC. Both would be worthy additions to the ACC.

I'm all for ISU and that ship sailed. You'd need an apocalypse level event.

I agree. I think whatever chance they had sailed away when they left AAU...

At this point, especially with conferences talking about removing divisions, I don't think Kansas would need an admission partner.

If they did, I think most agree that the options for that would seem to be:

a.) NC (and possibly one or more others from ACC)
b.) VA
c.) MO

I personally don't think "a" is going to happen anytime soon. And while MO is "possible", the slow buy-in, and the fact that they are already fully receiving money in the SEC, kinda seems to make "c" unlikely as well.

As for "b", there's a rather lengthy GoR to be negotiated (court cased), so I'm not really thinking we're going to see that in the near future either, though I think it's more likely that a or c.

Plus I am thinking that, just like MO in the past, a b and c might not be thrilled with the slow incremental pay-out process

But as I said above, I think KS could always just join alone - bringing the B10 to 15. And I think they'd likely be just fine going through the slow process.

Big 10 will take Kansas, Virginia, North Carolina and Duke. SEC FSU, Clemson, Louisville, and someone. If this actually happens though it will be SEC and Big 10 only division. They PAC 12 would also be ripped apart.

The B1G would love to grab UVA/UNC but that's a pipe dream. If/when those schools leave...it'll be for the mighty SEC (or whatever future premier mega-league exists). The B1G is always 2 steps behind and perhaps just doesn't care as much. If the B1G ever wants those 2 schools, it would have to be very proactive/aggressive/creative. Not something the B1G is ever shown to be compared to the SEC.

I think that'd be absolutely insane. It'd obviously make things shift around in the G5s.

Ideally in CFB, with 12 regular season games -- 4 OOC games is best. Thus, having 12 teams in a conference would be optimal.

Making conferences have 16+ teams is ridiculous. Getting to 20? OMG. Is that even a real conference? 9 regular season games of others in your division + 1 cross-division + 2 OOC games? Or just 1 OOC game + 2 cross-division games? You'd have to make it so that to win your division, cross-division games don't count when only playing 1 or 2 out of 10 -- as Luck would be too big of a factor in deciding who has the best conference record in your own division.

And I would assume, if you have divisions (unlike B12 currently), you'd want an Even # of teams every year -- and not stop at 13,15,17,19 (but could be very temporary when waiting for another team signed with ya, to officially move over).

Well, I think KS is going to the B10 after the TX/OK thing is resolved, regardless.

And once the Big10 shows weakness in the B12 GoR, the ACC may well take the opportunity to take Cinn, WVA, and UCF, at the very least. Even if fla state and clemson don't leave now, it's pretty clear they eventually will, and it's better to plan for that, rather than waiting til after a new B12 GoR which could be uglier to get out of, or have more issues. And to entice UCF to make the move, adding USF as well.

Or as an alternate, with no SEC moves, ACC doesn't try to add UCF or USF, only adding Cinn and WVA. So Big 12 only lost 3, So adds USF to partner with UCF, and still adds SMU and Rice for regional rivalries and stability. If they keep florida schools, I don't think they add Boise state.

In that case, Memphis would be the backfill for ACC or B12 if another domino moves, such as if the SEC decided to only take clemson, and "let" Missouri go to the B10.

So I dunno - I think this could happen even without the SEC moves.

I disagree totally, the B10 isn't taking Kansas. They are not paying out FB money to add a BB school. I don't think B10 does anything short term. If they were going to do that it would P12 on the chopping block, and I don't see it. Next round wont happen until ACC Gor is nearing an end. I easily could see 4 ACC schools taken at that time, 2 to SEC and 2 to B10.

They wouldn't get full "football money" right away anyway.

And besides, one would think that with B10 membership comes better money over time, and presumably then, better drafts, and so on. I don't think KS will be top in the near future, but in joining the B10, I think they are likely to improve their fortunes by more than a bit.

I don't see anything happening by 2025. Between 2033-2036 is where I think the changes will be made.

UNC, UVA to the B1G.
UConn, WVU to the ACC.
SMU to the Big 12.
Texas State to the AAC.
WKU to the Sun Belt.
EKU and Tarleton State to C-USA.
Notre Dame, Army, and UMass stay independent.

...

I've never understood opinions like this. The B1G could have invited Kansas at any time since the Nebraska move and they would have come. But the B1G did not. The OUT move is not holding anything up. If they wanted Kansas they could invite them today.
But they really have no reason to. They don't need a small state. They don't need a terrible football program (even Rice has a winning record against Kansas, and a two game winning streak going).

Low population state, not even the best football program in its own state, no history of past glory or strong following for the football team (i.e., they're not Nebraska).

Fewer people in the state than Connecticut, and UConn also has really good basketball and really bad football.

Want to compare KU football to Duke football? OK. Duke had six bowl games in the past 10 seasons. KU won zero or only one conference game in all 10 of the past 10 seasons.

There is no honest argument in which KU has a TV value of $60 million/year, and that's the likely minimum of what each Big Ten member will get from their next round of TV deals.

Money matters. This isn't "EA Sports NCAA Football" or some other video game where any user can create their own conferences and include every team they like and dump every team they don't like.

Other than the already announced moves, I don’t think any current or soon-to-be P5 schools will be changing conferences by 2025. I do think it’s possible that the Big XII could add two of SMU, Memphis, USF, Colorado State, or Boise State after Texas and OU leave, but that’s about it.
