EKU v. OVC
https://www.richmondregister.com/sports/...56046.html

Very interesting article posted on the CUSA board

OVC wants EKU to follow the OVC constitution and pay $1M plus forfeiture of conference and basketball revenue shares

EKU does want to pay the $1M and wants the revenue shares saying OVC breached its contract related to COVID cancellations.

Also EKU apparently was pushing for some type of OVC-ASUN Merger.

RE: EKU v. OVC
I'm writing about this tomorrow, but i will say that while I cant confirm EKU was a ringleader or anything, the ASUN and OVC *did* talk about merging back in 2021. Multiple conversations were had before those talks fell apart and the OVC went with the Big South.

That's certainly a far different dose of reality than the North Alabama fan posting the ASun FB schools turned down C-USA because they were planning instead to elevate ASun FB to FBS.

That has nothing to do with a merger with the OVC

Alabama has a state law against paying exit fees by any state organization. No idea if this will make things different for JSU.

Understand. OVC will dispute it. I am assuming you have not seen any press on that case.

So UAB isn't paying their exit fees to CUSA?

If this suit gets messy and EKU comes out looking bad-- it could slow C-USA's consideration of them for membership IMHO. Probably not-- these adds are "business". They should pay their 1 mil. and get this over with before it blows up in their face.

Jax State hasn't paid their million, yet CUSA is letting them in. Also, CUSA is cool with UAB not having to pay their exit fees I assume.

So UAB isn't paying their exit fees to CUSA?

Dont know how they can legally unless forced by the courts. CUSA maybe able to withhold funds to compensate.

There are no exit fees anymore.. It's all distributions.. Basically UAB didn't get conference distributions for 2021-2022 and won't get them for the 2022-2023 season.

Because they're leaving on schedule, their "exit fees" are just not getting conference money back for 2 years. They don't have to pay anything, we just don't pay them.

I just meant it to be clarifying.

Y'all leaving early didn't hurt you, it hurt us. It might have been nice for your exit fees to "hurt" to some degree, but alas, it looks like it's more or less about what the conference distribution would have been anyway.

RE: EKU v. OVC
If the OVC wanted to be really petty and vindictive, they’d go after UCA, Austin Peay, UNA, and Kenn St as full members in an effort to orphan EKU.

Except the OVC already ticked off UNA by declining them and Peay is leaving due to the same poor management issues.
