Hot seats for upcoming season?
Figured it'd be an interesting offseason conversation. Here are some that come to mind for some northern programs:

Warm/Hot:
Scott Frost (Nebraska) - Season five in Lincoln, time for the Huskers to show serious improvement. I imagine it's bowl or bust for him, at the minimum.
James Franklin (Penn State) - Two straight meh seasons, mediocrity doesn't cut it in Happy Valley.
Dino Babers (Syracuse) - Only one winning season out of six, only four ACC wins the past three years.
Tom Allen (IU) - The Hoosiers were awful last season and made some staff changes, but if they're bad again I wouldn't be surprised if they let him go.

Lukewarm:
Tim Albin (Ohio U) - Solich was consistently competitive but they immediately fell back immediately after he retired, if that repeats they might look for an external hire to rebuild.
Ken Niumataolo (Navy) - Has had great careers in a tough job but they've slipped recently, especially as they've seen Army become improve the past five or so years. There's a point where he'll be vulnerable, even if it might not be quite yet.

Rod Carey (Temple) - Okay start but bad since then, might not be much tolerance for another lousy year.
Ken Niumataolo (Navy) - Has had great careers in a tough job but they've slipped recently, especially as they've seen Army become improve the past five or so years. There's a point where he'll be vulnerable, even if it might not be quite yet.

Carey got canned after last season. Stan Drayton is the new coach at Temple.

Some additional names off top of my head would include:

Jeff Scott at USF
Geoff Collins at Georgia Tech
Jedd Fisch at Arizona

If Texas has another year like last does Sark make it to year 3?

Jake Spavital at Texas State has to be on the hot seat.
I'd also wager that if Brian Harsin has another 6-6 year at Auburn they are going to want to either fire him or that'll put him on the hotseat.

But Navy beat Army last year. They could have a lousy record, but as long as they beat Army year after year, his job is practically safe-ish.

RE: Hot seats for upcoming season?
In Bowling Green, the seat is lukewarm. Scot Loeffler needs to keep showing progress. While he seems to be on the right trajectory (the Falcons went from a bad 0-5 in 2020 to 4-8 in 2021), fans are impatient. This has been the longest run of bad football at Bowling Green in school history.

This will be Loeffler's fourth season. If he doesn't manage 6-6 or better, it could obviously be rough going. The schedule this year won't do him many favors either, with UCLA, Mississippi State, and Marshall all on the board in nonconference play.

Jedd Fisch is not in any trouble. He walked into a mess and he is cleaning it up. Arizona just had a top 25 recruiting class with his first full recruiting class. The guy can sell it and Arizona looks like a great fit for him.

The coach on the hottest seat of any coach in the country is Herm Edwards at Arizona State. They have lost five coaches amid NCAA investigations into alleged recruiting violations. They lost a star QB to LSU and a star Linebacker to USC, among the many players that have left. They just had an historically bad recruiting class. ASU football has been described as a dumpster fire and a train wreck.

Jake Spav for sure. Going into his last year on contract. I think if he gets us to a bowl he stays

I'd say Will Healy's seat at Charlotte is at least warm. Last season's late season collapse isn't a good trend for him.

Satterfield at Louisville. Boosters aren't paying for 5* recruits at UL if the coach can't compete meaningfully in the ACC.

I wonder if the transition year from C-USA to the AAC will help Rice with recruiting? Because I've always said that even though I don't like y'all, I'd rather y'all still do well when we do well at the same time because it's good for the City of Houston to have two high-quality football programs. And I know Rice has the potential to be great.

So I wish you luck in the AAC. I hope you make an immediate impact in the league.

I'd throw David Shaw out there. Stanford is 11-19 over past three seasons, including a three-win and four-win season. I'd keep an eye on him this Fall.

With his recruiting last year, Sark's safe regardless of year 2 (baring drinking relapse or something of the like).

I know it would be expensive to fire him after just 2 seasons, but does anybody think Bryan Harsin at Auburn would survive another 6-6 regular season?

The class he's building right now will guarantee him at least another year --unless the bottom falls out. But I don't expect that.

Offense is loaded. And the defense has some high-quality transfers to bolster things. If Malik Cunninghams takes another step forward like he has each year, the Cards will do well.

Imo unless BG goes 3-9 or worse he'll get at least one other season considering the mess he inherited. A win against Toledo would certainly help his case. There aren't any obvious candidates in the MAC besides him and Albin though, everyone else either has some breathing room or are still new enough to get a pass on a rough season.
