Aresco just got bent over and the left behinds won't get much of a meaningful windfall.

Memphis really needs to figure a way out of the AAC because beginning in 2023 it is simply CUSA 4.0.

The best way out is to dominate the league on the football field every year.

I thought we had better records than Hou/Cinn the last few years--even head 2 head . I think we found out that results mean nothing

Each one of these programs built new stadiums or spent big money renovating their current one. They invested large sums of money into their programs. We didn’t.

Houston and Cincy both demonstrated a commitment to invest in their football programs that goes back decades. Memphis, on the other hand, was refusing to support its football program a little over a decade ago. That decision is still haunting us. Conferences want to know that UofM is committed to football for the long run, and they are understandably cautious considering our not-too-distant history. It takes more than 8 years of success to demonstrate a long-term commitment. We are on the right track and we need to keep going. We will get there soon.

I firmly believe we should try to schedule more OOC games with ACC opponents and hope after a few seasons the come calling. I think the current makeup of the ACC is leaps and bounds better than the Big12.

I'm with you on that. We need to schedule them if they will play us. Wish we could start a series with GT, Wake or NC State.. Our only hope now to get out of this awful conference is to schedule as many P5 games as we can get and win some. No reason to not reach out to Vandy and Kentucky as well. Its our only hope to getting people in the LB.

I tend to agree with both of you. Big XII invite would be great, but I think the ACC is a much better/stronger conference. Schedule as many games in Football, Basketball, Baseball and Softball as we can, and hope we can make a positive impression.

Cincy spent just under $90 million to renovate a 100 year old stadium and it still only seats 40,000 which seems to be OK for Big XII.

Houston spent near130 million to build it's stadium and it also seats 40,000.

Those are on campus.

We are spending $200 million to renovate a 60 year old stadium. When it's done it will be nicer than those two.

That might be true. A Lexus is nicer than a Jeep too. But if you need to go four wheeling, the Jeep might be better.

A smaller, packed on-campus stadium might be the Jeep to our 75% full Lexus Liberty Bowl.

I think you are factually correct. I think the Liberty Bowl will be nicer than those other stadiums.

Only time will tell whether it will be a better college football venue.

the only thing that makes the central florida stadium a better experience than the LBS is the 10k students jumping up and down and going crazy. that's it. our concrete is better than their aluminum and our concrete walls are much better than their chain link fence. we need to solve why students don't attend the games and we will be fine.

They come for homecoming, so they can show up for the other games too. OCS has little impact on student attendance.

UCF had 2 undefeated seasons in a row. That helped their student attendance a lot. We should try that.

2017 and 2018. I remember those teams well because they beat us 4 times in those 2 seasons. I guess in 2018 they weren't quite undefeated because they lost the bowl game to Joey Burrow's LSU team in a close game.

Actually the perfect example of the state of the program and donor levels. It took us 20 years to raise what was probably originally $8 million, that eventually became $20 million.

It was exactly chicken scratch.

I am extremely disappointed that we won't be getting an OCS, but at the same time I think smart enough to not ***** about it, because the alternative was getting nothing.

At the same time, it is 100% factual that having an OCS would help in all facets of fundraising. It would get alumni back on campus multiple times a year and it would especially get more students to go to the games.

You aren't saying that there is the same connection to the campus without an OCS, are you?

Each one of these programs built new stadiums or spent big money renovating their current one. They invested large sums of money into their programs. We didn’t.

I guess that money we spent on the IPF was chicken scratch?

Actually the perfect example of the state of the program and donor levels. It took us 20 years to raise what was probably originally $8 million, that eventually became $20 million.

It was exactly chicken scratch.

Like I’ve said before we don’t have many rich alumni.

My biggest issue has been for multiple years, decades even, that our university has never publicly advocated an OCS & has always deferred to the city for its sports facilities even though in every state in the south there are examples of schools with no more resources than our university who have built OC sports facilities. And the one time a known booster pushed for a study, the admin essentially shuts it down. This go-round we get no details of the "study" that decided to give $200M to the city to renovate their stadium & said CSU was the reason we'd need $400M to build an OCS. There is much more to this practice of renting city facilities & its been a well kept secret. I'd just like some upfront honesty besides this BS we are poor - yet we have a top 5 athletic budget among G5 schools. It just doesn't add up.

The guys at The Daily Memphian have a 90-page copy of something. There was one article I saw, but not much and zero quotes.

Ping them. Everyone who feels like this - ping them.

Isn't Memphis the only university in the state that was not provided an on campus stadium with state funds? The time to ***** was 70 years ago.

Somebody must have sold our soul to the devil to have access to the brand spanking new Liberty Bowl. It was/is the best stadium for a 250 mile radius, before the Titans stadium was built.

We know it can be a damn good venue when it's rocking. I think we have the 7th best win percentage at home the last 10 years? If I recall.
