RE: One more advantage to the completion of the new Liberty Stadium in 2025
List of NCAA Division I FBS football stadiums
I imagine these numbers are not reliable given that our capacity hasn't been updated. It still shows our capacity as 62,380 even though the Tiger athletic site shows 58,325.
Going with the assumption that all other stadium capacities are correct and using 58,325 for ours, here are the P5 stadiums which could never have a larger crowd:
- 57,583 Wayne Day Family Field at Carter–Finley Stadium Raleigh NC NC State ACC
- 57,236 Ross–Ade Stadium West Lafayette IN Purdue Big Ten
- 56,232 Frank Kush Field at Sun Devil Stadium Tempe AZ Arizona State Pac-12
- 56,029 Arizona Stadium Tucson AZ Arizona Pac-12
- 55,000 Bobby Dodd Stadium at Historic Grant Field Atlanta GA Georgia Tech ACC
- 54,000 Autzen Stadium Eugene OR Oregon Pac-12
- 52,959 Memorial Stadium Bloomington IN Indiana Big Ten
- 52,454 SHI Stadium Piscataway NJ Rutgers Big Ten
- 51,802 Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium College Park MD Maryland Big Ten
- 51,444 Rice–Eccles Stadium Salt Lake City UT Utah Pac-12
- 51,000 Kenan Memorial Stadium Chapel Hill NC North Carolina ACC
- 50,805 Huntington Bank Stadium Minneapolis MN Minnesota Big Ten
- 50,424 Stanford Stadium Stanford CA Stanford Pac-12
- 50,183 Folsom Field Boulder CO Colorado Pac-12
- 50,071 David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium Lawrence KS Kansas Big 12
- 50,000 Bill Snyder Family Football Stadium Manhattan KS Kansas State Big 12
- 49,250 Carrier Dome Syracuse NY Syracuse ACC
- 47,130 Ryan Field Evanston IL Northwestern Big Ten
- 45,140 McLane Stadium Waco TX Baylor Big 12
- 45,000 Amon G. Carter Stadium Fort Worth TX TCU Big 12
- 44,500 Alumni Stadium Chestnut Hill MA Boston College ACC
- 40,350 Vanderbilt Stadium Nashville TN Vanderbilt SEC
- 40,000 Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium Durham NC Duke ACC
That list was quite larger than I expected.
Here's some additional info just for comparison:
- 65,000 Allegiant Stadium Paradise NV UNLV Mountain West
- 63,470 LaVell Edwards Stadium Provo UT BYU Independent
- 58,325 Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium Memphis TN Memphis American
- 44,206 Bounce House Orlando FL UCF American
- 40,000 John O'Quinn Field at TDECU Stadium Houston TX Houston American
- 40,000 Nippert Stadium Cincinnati OH Cincinnati American
- 36,387 Albertsons Stadium Boise ID Boise State Mountain West
- 32,000 Gerald J. Ford Stadium University Park TX SMU American
- 27,000 Dignity Health Sports Park Carson CA San Diego State Mountain West

Got him. Generally speaking, the few, and I do mean few, occasions when we manage to get 60K plus in the stands, it's because fans of the SEC school contribute about 25K to that.
Sometimes we get 45-50K when we give tickets to the Boys and Girls Clubs, the Navy base, and allot 20K to Kroger for $5 and a bag of Doritos.
How many SEC fans did we have when Memphis played SMU in the sold out LB? Just askin' for a friend.
That was ONE time. With College GameDay. How many other times did we sellout for a game against a conference opponent?
That’s not really fair. The seating capacity was set for a potential NFL team, not us. Ticket demand in general suffers due to that. A rightly sized stadium changes a number of things.
That's my point. We don't need a 60,000 seat stadium. It doesn't fit the program.

The newly renovated Liberty Bowl will not fit the program either, but that's okay. It's not ours. We just rent.

50k fits the program fine. Will not sell out often but some games will. I used to think success would bring the crowd. I stand corrected. Success with exciting football improved the crowd. Sustained success might maintain the crowd. Success with exciting football will improve the crowd little by little. Down sizing the stadium to 50k will improve the excitement level and the appearance of larger attendance. CRS doesn't need to just win, he needs to keep the fans entertained with the exciting brand of football with which the previous two coaches risked and succeeded. Fortune favors the brave. A winning season won't get CRS fired, but he has been sitting on a pretty warm seat since he has been here and an 8 and 5 season will not improve his margin for error.

Silverfield has not had a warm seat.. .I mean he's only been here 2 years. 8 wins at a minimum and more are great for the program and Silverfield. GTG.

The seat was warm for anyone following Novell and Fuentes. The fans at Memphis were always going to be questioning the next guy because of past non success before those guys. I don't think there was much of a chance of CRS being fired in his first 2 years, but in 3 there was a chance. He has improved his position by having the winningest first season of a head coach in Tiger history and by not having a losing season last year after having to replace the goat with a first year QB. But the seat remains warm and I tend to think it will be that way for any coach here for awhile. That is why it was wise for the 2 previous coaches to take the offers they got after their successful seasons here. They knew the crowd can turn quickly.
That said I believe if CRS has success, titlesand continued fine recruiting he may be a little more reluctant to move at the first good offer. Who knows he might be the kind of guy JoePa, and Bobby Bowden were. They were the coaches that lifted their programs to elite status and they stayed, kept it going, and became two of the winningest coaches of all time. It sure would be nice for that to happen here. The Tiger program now warrants a $200m stadium improvement. There is no reason this thing can't get better, but the fans are going to have to step up. It won't just happen because some of us want it to. More fans are going to have to be willing to pay $150 and up for season tickets, and put their butts in the seats they pay for. And that means the football has to be exciting.

Really!? Let's just pretend you are correct in the bolded statement (you aren't, but play along just for the entertainment aspect). You expect people to believe that if not for something he tried 2 years ago to help with team unity, our attendance at the Nicholls State game would have been almost 60,000 as opposed to the 30,263 announced? Or for the UTSA (29,264), Navy (30,042), or SMU (30,191) games could have been approaching 60,000? Note - I didn't include the MSU game because I have no idea how many they brought to the game as compared to the somewhat miniscule following of the other teams.
No wonder you advocate for expanding the stadium beyond it's current capacity. You should share whatever meds you are on with the rest of us so you will appear to be lucid when we read your BS.

Did I mention attendance ? -- Not all fans can or do attend games .-- Don't put words in my mouth .--What he did 2 years ago was bad enough--what he did last season was equally egregious --two seasons and he is 2 for 2 in dividing the fanbase

Cameras have to face north east so there is no problem with the sun during day games.
Have you ever wondered by the field is orientated from northwest to southeast? I'm guessing but I think that was the reasoning. Any body know for sure?

If he is to be believed --he will never leave us--this is his dream job
He will leave us for the obvious reason ---Ruin has ruined the program--its unfortunate because as TIGER fans we wanted to believe and pulled for him to succeed ------maybe he should have worried more about winning games than promoting a woke agenda and alienating at least 1/2 the fanbase
Point at the doll and show us where the little stickers hurt you.

Well, I guess I missed what he did to wizz in your Cheerios last year. It must have affected you deeply. Take your security blanket and go to your safe space, I'll contact a counselor to help you heal your butthurt. Poor little fragile thing....

That's a cute response, but you are denying a real problem rather than addressing it. There are alienated fans. Some of them might have been large donors that are not contributing to the stadium project. I don't know, but I know there is an actual problem there. Ridiculing people doesn't help solve the problem.

The SEC will go to a 9 game schedule and they will cancel. Better get SW Missouri Junior college lined up

There is literally nothing to suggest that Elvis was an Ole Miss fan, or even a fan of college sports in general.
Khuck gonna khuck though.

Elvis was a huge football fan and attended several of the Memphis Southmen games, as did Charlie Rich.
