Lame. According to the "staff at cbssports." A bunch of guys who never played sports. My nephew is a sports writer for a paper in Owensboro, KY and covers KY football. Never played on a single sports team in his life.

This is Silverfield’s year to show if he’s “the guy”. There is much to like about him, but he’s been a little too robotic, predictable, safe… whatever you want to call it… with game management the first 2 years. He’s done a commendable job recruiting but needs to step it up on the sidelines.

With the high-stakes game of realignment and the reason given for the stadium expansion vs OCS (speed), we don't have time to waste on on-field success.

Just in case, the Ath Dpt better have somebody in mind.

He needed to be a continuation of Norvell, not a “we’re changing the philosophy around here” type of coach. Unfortunately, he’s opted for change. It needs to pay off this season.

RE: Ryan Silverfield 7th Best Coach In AAC Poll
Quite overrated, should be 9th on the list, best case scenario. Rhett Lashlee is a better coach than Ruin, with zero head coaching experience, and at least brings a pulse to the stadium with his offense (i.e. Norvell). Mike Houston out coached him on our home field last year.

Ruin has 3 regular season wins, in 2 years, against teams that were above .500, by a combined total of 6 points.

Zero excuses this year, horrid out of conference home schedule, he should be able keep the same low energy and sleepwalk to 6 wins. If our recruiting classes are as strong as the rankings intend, then anything less than 8-9 wins is a huge letdown and time to cut bait.

My prediction - let's mark the calendar for the pivotal bowl eligibility game against the mighty North Alabama Lions on November 19th, o/u 10,000 fans in the crowd that game while Ruin tanks the program?

Hope I'm wrong and we get close or into double digit wins, not much faith in his leadership until proven otherwise.

RE: Ryan Silverfield 7th Best Coach In AAC Poll
He gave away the UTSA by slowing the game down in the 2nd Q… who does that? And he almost did the same thing in Jonesboro against a bad ASU team. Losing at Temple was a really bad loss & losing at home to ECU, inexplicable. Why go for 2 at home and then run that easy to defend roll out pass to the short side of the field??

Ryan coached this team last year like we were a Big 10, grind it out kinda squad… “get the lead then start pounding it & running clock”, but thats not the team he was given.

He gets a new set of downs this year… hopefully he takes advantage.

Sorry, but I'm not going to pat a coach on the back who goes 6-6 with our schedule & apparently the highest rated recruiting classes, ever, the past two years. Time to win games and not get embarrassed by Temple, Tulsa, ECU, etc.

Please don't use the injury excuse, every team deals with injuries throughout the season, we are no different. Even if we have injuries, our stellar recruiting should yield better results to backfill those positions.

All signs point to a coaching problem and it's ok to admit that - now is not the time to put our head in the sand and act like he is the guy.

Ryan needs to improve this year & I don’t think anyone would disagree. Attendance suffered last year & the Norvell/Fuente momentum has waned.

Silverfield said he could get it done, year #3 is the time.

Maybe you should apply with your vast knowledge of the game.

I do think this is an important year for him to demonstrate who he is as a coach. I'm pulling for him but would like to see him open up and share more about the team. Fans need to be engaged at some level. My concern is some fans will fall away and others will never become engaged. This can easily be resolved but will it?

I agree. I might join the forces in the "fire Silverfield" campaign if it is a disastrous season. My opinion of last year was injuries at key spots. I.e. the kicker and had use the punter. and QB against UCF. Both cost us a few games.
