I would suspect it to be a substantial increase in revenue for the city
with the University picking up the majority of the renovation costs
someone smarter than me please explain this logic?

The city gets the naming rights $ under the current deal.
I thought $1 Million per year was a lofty, but realistic goal.
In the end I thought the deal they got from Simmons was fair. There were some folks on this board who claimed it would be impossible to sell naming rights to the LB for any amount of money.

But where does the value come from? Largely, it comes from the Simmons brand mentions provided by broadcasts of Memphis Tigers games.
The city will tell you, yeah but we need it to offset operating expenses of the stadium.
There's another argument to be made there, but I'd just be rambling at that point...

Ramble on! The amount of money given away by not having our own stadium is staggering. When you run that back 100 years - it is mind blowing.
